The first time Deku reaches his hand out is when the string appears. Katsuki watches as it phases into existence, wrapping itself around his and Deku’s wrists like an eel or a snake. It knots itself tight, and Katsuki's heart is too young to know what that means. Water rushes past his knees and in his ears, and he stares, and stares, and stares.
“Are you okay, Kacchan?” Deku asks, ignoring the string completely. His eyes are so big and wide with concern, but they don’t flicker to the string even once. “You fell pretty far…”
Katsuki can see the red line tying him and Izuku together. He hates it.

He just didn’t seem interested in putting enough effort in for the sarcasm to fully hit home.
“Well, yes,” Izuku responded. “I mean, I really do need help. There’s some monsters in this dungeon that are just way above my power level.”

Toshinori stares at the boy who spoke, looking into the widest, youngest eyes he thinks he has ever seen on a swordsman. They are quite literally evergreen, a green as new as spring grass.
But they are dull, too. Matte as a dark metal sword that glints only when the light hits its sharpened edges at a certain angle.
A twisted, knotted feeling stirs in Toshinori’s stomach. He swallows hard. “What is your name?”
The boy denies him, shaking his head. “I have been trained to be your sword,” he says.

Eri can’t help but ball the ends of it up in her tiny palms, relishing the gentle give of the plush fabric when she clenches her fists. Her old scarf was so ratty and worn, in comparison this new scarf feels like she's holding onto a cloud. She wonders where he found it. Or where he took it from.
“You already know that you have to keep this on no matter what,” Mr. Aizawa says sternly. His face is as grim and gray as the sky above them. “But if it does come off, and someone sees your horn, what do you tell them?”
“A random meta did it to me,” Eri whispers.

Summary
Katsuki throws his blankets aside and leaps out of bed, not taking his eyes off of Izuku for even a heartbeat. This may or may not even be real, but he feels like if he blinks Izuku will disappear, vanishing into the darkness without even leaving a note this time.
The more time he spends taking in Izuku, the stronger his doubts about reality become. The other boy is wearing his UA uniform, tie knotted in that terrible way he always has it, but… that isn’t right. Izuku had left his uniform behind in his room when he’d run off to play vigilante. Besides the wardrobe not making sense, something about Izuku as a whole is… indistinct. His form isn't solid—he isn't really sharing this physical space with Katsuki. Instead, his edges are soft and wispy. They give the appearance that Izuku is dispersing into the air one molecule at a time, untethered and ghostly.
"What is this?" Katsuki asks, narrowing his eyes.
Izuku has a hard request to make of Katsuki.

Summary
On Izuku's desk in the UA teacher's office sits a small desk organizer, a cheap thing made partly of synthesized wood and partly of plastic, with a few drawers for papers and office supplies. In it, Izuku keeps extra pens, paperclips, his current journal, and printed copies of every invitation to join someone's agency that he's received since getting his suit.
Every one of his friends with their own agency has sent him one. Open hands extended towards him, ready to lift him up into the world he's so late arriving to. The only friend he doesn't have an actual physical and official written invitation from is Katsuki, who always springs it on him verbally when Izuku is least ready for it, as if trying to startle Izuku into accepting.
That doesn't make the offer less real to Izuku, though. In fact, it's probably the only one that he finds himself fighting off thoughts of the most. The only one he ever feels genuinely tempted—despite his efforts not to be—to accept.
After his triumphant return to hero work, Izuku's friends notice that he has rejected any and every offer he's gotten to join an agency.
They decide a bit of an intervention is in order.

Summary
There are, Izuku thinks, a few immutable laws of the universe. Laws that are baked into the coding of the ways the world works. Fundamental building blocks that dictate just a few core principles that reality cannot operate without.
First; gravity is somewhat essential. (Although Izuku knows Uraraka will argue this one with him. He only lists it first when she is out of earshot.)
Second; there will always be smaller things that bigger things can eat to live. (Survival of the fittest, Kacchan would call it. The circle of life, Shouto would say instead.)
Third; Midoriya Izuku will find a way to break himself with anything good that is given to him.
Izuku gets stuck. But it's more complicated than that.

The smaller knife goes through Izuku’s ankle from the front, scraping his bones as it forces its way between them and emerges out the other side with a spray of blood. His ragged cry tears through the stairway.
A red haze of pain covers his vision, and he brings down the axe on instinct now. A wounded animal striking out, aiming blindly for what hurt him—for the arm still holding the knife.
Blood splatters up onto his face. Wet and warm.
New teacher Izuku, grading papers alone in the school during the still-dark hours of the morning, finds himself the target of a mysterious and violent coordinated attack.

After discovering Danny's secret during the reunion, without revealing his own secret Vlad offers to become an adult Danny can come to for help with ghost things. He's hoping that he can manipulate Danny slowly but surely to his side, comforting him as Masters while pushing him to his limits as Plasmius.
Maddie sees some texts between them, and comes to the conclusion any mother would come to when seeing creepy texts from a man her age to her fourteen year old son.
