Summary
Grian can feel Scar chewing against his neck, and smiles. He pulls another piece of bread from the bag, and puts it into the toaster. He hums a song he remembered from a while ago, when they went out to karaoke with Cleo and BDubs, Scar’s half-siblings. Some sort of song about heartbreak and boys. Scar mumbles something about getting up too early, and Grian presses a kiss against the side of Scar’s head as a semblance of an apology.

CuteGuy looked around Scar's apartment, smiling affectionately.
He caught himself, realizing that his heart was in his eyes. It was a little embarrassing to be so unabashedly fond in front of HotGuy.
Speaking of whom… the hero seemed to be breathing heavily. Maybe he’d pushed himself too hard to get here quickly.
“Here, sit down for a minute. You look winded,” CuteGuy said, pointing him to the couch. “Let me get you something to drink.” He went straight for the cupboard to the right of the stove, where Scar kept the glasses.
HotGuy sat down heavily, making a rasping noise in the back of his throat.
Better hurry with that water, Grian thought.Or: Mumbo is out of town, Grian's apartment is being remodeled, and CuteGuy needs a safe place to preen his wings. Suddenly, HotGuy finds himself somewhere much too familiar.

She’s goading him, taunting, pulling him towards something promising, indiscernible to himself. She’s similar to Grian in that way. Her smile is sharp when she speaks. “Go big or go home, am I right?”
And Scar can tell she says it on purpose, he can see the smugness in the way her lips tilt up, he can see the satisfaction in her eyes. She knows she had him trapped before she even spoke.
He decides, quite easily, that if he is willing to do this for Grian, then he is also willing to do this for Pearl.
Or, Scar finds himself wrapped up in centuries-old customs that are much larger than himself. No one is surprised when he stumbles into love.
