Summary
It's the summer of 1992, and Will Byers has come home. And Mike cannot stop staring.
Mike is on the NYU waitlist. Will just finished his first year of art school in New York. They have one summer in Hawkins before everything changes, and Mike is running out of room to hide.
Fire in My Heart follows Mike and Will from the thick Indiana heat of June through their first months sharing a studio apartment in Brooklyn. Wrestling matches on the basement floor. Long drives that end with the car idling in the dark. A gay bar in Indianapolis where everything finally breaks open. And then New York: two people who have known each other their whole lives, finally figuring out what it means to actually be together.
Grief lives in the walls of this story. The trauma didn't stop when the gates closed. And Mike Wheeler has been in love with his best friend for longer than he's willing to admit, even to himself.

Summary
After the events of season 4, the Byers move in with the Wheelers. Close proximity forces Mike and Will to confront their feelings for one another.
or
“Mike,” Will breathes.
Mike looks up, his lips hovering over Will’s collarbone. In Will’s eyes, he sees fire. Hunger. Desperation. He kisses Will’s collar, slow and soft. He wants the hunger to remain. He watches Will’s eyes close and hears a low hum of pleasure. Taking this cue, Mike shifts so that he is facing Will, his knees between Will’s legs. He kisses his shoulder, then neck. Mike looks at Will for permission to continue. Will’s eyes are still closed, head facing the stars.
“Love,” Mike whispers. “Look at me.”
Will’s brilliant green eyes open, hunger blazing. He kisses Will on the mouth, now, deep and wanting, hands on either side of his face, pulling Will toward him. Will accepts the kisses, accepts Mike’s wandering tongue, accepts his bite.
Take more. Take all of me. Take whatever you want. I’m yours.

Summary
In Hawkins, Indiana, the rules are simple.
Boys date girls. Friends stay friends. And anything else is something you don’t talk about.
But Mike Wheeler has never been very good at following rules, especially when it comes to Will Byers.
Because falling in love is easy.
Figuring out what it costs is the hard part.

Summary
It’s December 1990, and Mike is at his last University of Indianapolis frat party. He’s going through hell; after having lost contact with his friends, tried to fill his emotional void with sex, and dropped out of college a year and a half in because of his worsening drinking habits, Mike stands at the edge of a lookout with only one thing— one person— on his mind.
The title and story are inspired by the Taylor Swift song <3
Dedicated to my mother. For all the times you told me my story sounded amazing, that you wanted to read it, only to make it halfway through chapter 1 and refuse to read the rest because it was so… fucking… gay. You’re the reason why I am who I am and why I write what I write, so I should be thanking you. Truly.

Summary
“Have you ever had a long-term relationship? Or even a medium-term one?”
“Define medium-term.”
“Let’s say six months.”
“... let’s not.”
“And why do you think that is, Will?”
“I have absolutely no idea, Maxine. But I get the feeling that you’re going to tell me why you think it is, so get it over with...”Will, pushing thirty, thinks he has a pretty good thing going in New York. His art is selling, his bed is frequently full, and he's on really excellent terms with his best friend. Even if Mike does live in San Francisco.
But his mom has been bugging him about settling down, and maybe it's just persistence, but Will is starting to feel like there's something missing.
Surely he's too young for a midlife crisis?
