    Yuichiro wasn’t a chosen one. He didn’t have the strength to be kind, to save others. But he was an older brother, if only by a few minutes. So for Muichiro’s sake, he would find the strength he needed, in order to save the only family he had left.

    Muichiro may be a demon, but that did not make him a monster. His memories were shrouded in mist, but he remembered his rage, and he remembered Yuichiro, his brother. And he would protect him, no matter what.

    The battle with Enmu takes just a few minutes longer, and Akaza doesn't manage to land the finishing blow on Kyojuro before sunrise. He's starving, and he doesn't care that a child watches their father die in front of them to satiate the hunger he feels.

    He doesn't care until the child sees him as someone who is safer than her father.

    “Um—” Akaza turns around to look at the girl, who was now back in the doorway. “Why did you…” he takes a second before he follows her gaze to the splattering of blood and brain matter.

    “I was hungry,” he says simply, because it was just that. If he hadn’t been hungry, he might have not even cared to stop to look further into the house. “It’s as easy as that.”

    Enmu was not a fighter. He thought things through, he carefully schemed, and then he acted it out in a flawless and controlled way. When Akaza crashed through the train’s cars, through his body, another grain of sand in the cogs of his perfect plan - Enmu saw red. He did the only thing he could to make sure the Upper Moon would not steal his victory.

    He made him fall asleep.

    When the biggest threat Kyojuro had ever encountered succumbed to slumber right in front of his eyes, he didn't hesitate. He jumped, blade at the ready, fully intending to kill him on the spot -

    He certainly didn’t expect to be dragged into the dark waters of the demon’s dream instead.
