Summary
Eddie's head snapped up. One of the SWAT officers was pointing at a portable monitor set up near the command vehicle—a live feed from the news broadcast still streaming from inside the school. The camera was shaky, the angle awkward, but it showed a hallway.
And there—*there*—was Buck.
Eddie's breath caught in his throat. Buck was in the middle of the corridor, and he was fighting. Not running, not hiding—*fighting*. Hand-to-hand combat with one of the shooters, brutal and desperate. Buck's face was streaked with blood, his shirt torn, but he was moving with the fierce determination of someone protecting something precious.
The camera zoomed in slightly, and Eddie could see it now—the way Buck had positioned himself. The storage closet door visible behind him. The way every move Buck made was calculated to keep the shooter away from that door, to use his body as a barrier.
"The boys," Eddie said, his voice hollow with realisation. "They're in that closet. That's where he hid them. He's—" Eddie's voice broke. "He's protecting them."
Or Buck is taking the boys to Christopher’s science Fayre when a school shooting starts. We see how Buck fights to keep his boys safe and how Eddie rushes to save themBookmarked by Summersome

"He liked me?"
"Of course. I mean, you're you."
Eddie scrunches his nose up in confusion.
Cute."What's that supposed to mean?"
"Eddie, have you looked in a mirror? You're hot. That can't be news to you."
Eddie seems to still at that. Then, as if a switch had been flipped, the confused and irritated look on Eddie is gone. A sly grin spreads across Eddie's face as he leans back against the counter, crossing his arms, his biceps bulging in the tight t-shirt.
Shit.
"...You think I'm hot, Buckley?"
or: Buck is perfectly happy in his relationship with Tommy, he really is. He just thought that Eddie liked Tommy. But it seems he got that wrong. And Buck really values Eddie's opinion.

Summary
“It must have been hard, seeing Theo taken away like that.”
Buck nods his head. “Yeah, hardest thing I ever had to do.” Tommy’s hand slips into his curls, massaging through it in a way that makes his eyes slowly blink.
“But you know it was for the best, right?” Tommy asks. Buck’s thoughts come to a grinding halt at the words, a frown slipping onto his face.
“Best thing for who?” Buck asks, looking at Tommy curiously. Because he needs to hear the words from his mouth before this goes any further.
“For everyone, babe.” Tommy continues like he can’t sense the shift in the air, the way the hair on Buck's arm is standing at attention. “Theo needs a stable family after all that he’s gone through, and well, you’re…”
“I’m what?” He frowns.
Or: Buck and Eddie have been looking for love everywhere but right in front of them. The Universe has decided to lend its version of a helpful hand. Again.

Eddie Diaz is not superstitious, but he is deeply annoyed by Tommy and extremely fond of Buck. What starts as a harmless joke involving a single Etsy spell spirals into candles, jars, and increasingly specific acts of cosmic inconvenience. Somewhere between accidental witchcraft and emotional overinvestment, Eddie realizes this was never just about hexing Tommy—it was about how much he cares about Buck.

Summary
Eddie: What do you know about Buck’s date tonight?
Ravi: They’re going to some Greek place.
Ravi: And he’s kinda ugly.
“Oh this guy… sucks,” Ravi says.
“What have I been telling you this whole time?” Eddie throws his hands up dramatically.
“I liked you better when you were straight and sad all the time.” He pulls his laptop closer to himself and away from Eddie’s hands, “Now you’re evil and gay.”
“I’ll try not to live my truth and embrace joy next time if that makes you feel better.” Eddie reaches to pick up the laptop from Ravi’s lap, but he holds it out of Eddie’s reach before he can.
Or, Eddie assembles a team to cyber-stalk Buck's Hinge date. It gets a little out of hand when they discover things they probably never should have seen.

Summary
“I’ll do whatever you want, just, please.” Buck sobs out the last word, eyes burning with unshed tears.
“A vow.” The man leans uncomfortably close to Buck. The knife brushes against his neck, lightly scratching across the top layer of Buck’s skin. The man’s cold blue eyes hold Buck’s full attention. “That’s what I require. Sell me your allegiance.”
Buck stares back at the killer, unable to fully process what is being asked of him. He sees a flash of anger dance in the stranger’s gaze. He's impatient. Unpredictable. Fear pours into Buck's chest as he realizes he might not get a second chance at this. He has to make this count. “I vow to give you complete control over the remainder of my life. My body is yours to destroy—so long as you let my sister live and return safely to her family.”
__
Or, After Eddie leaves for Texas, Buck goes to seek comfort from his sister and walks in on her kidnapping. In order to save Maddie's life, Buck offers up his instead. Unintentionally agreeing to something worse than death.

Summary
Buck has wanted this—really wanted this—for years.
A kid. A home. Someone who needs him.
What he maybe hadn’t planned for was the fact that Theo is basically a four-year-old clone of himself with less self-preservation instincts and even more energy.
After three months of parenting on very little sleep, an overtime-heavy work schedule, and a migraine building behind his eyes like an incoming natural disaster, Buck makes one questionable decision:
He invites Eddie and Christopher over for pizza night.--------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------

Summary
“What does that feel like?” Eddie asks quietly.
Buck lets out a thin breath. “Like everything’s happening at a distance.”
Eddie doesn’t interrupt.
Buck stares at the blanket in his lap. “Like I know I’m here. I know this is me. I know I’m in this room with you.” He swallows. “But it’s like… there should be more of me in here than there is.”
Jesus.
Eddie looks down at his own hands because if he keeps staring at Buck’s face, he might get up and cross the room and do something neither of them is ready for.

“I can’t just—oh, holy shit,” Buck says through a laugh.
“What?” Eddie asks, contorting himself to try and follow Buck’s line of sight. “What is it?”
Buck physically manhandles him so that he’s looking in the right direction and discreetly points towards the aisle.
“Are those little helicopters hanging off the pews,” Buck asks in horror.
Eddie is equally horrified, for the record.
“We’d never have something that trashy at our wedding,” he says without thinking.
Buck freezes next to him. “At our wedding?”

Summary
Eddie has to laugh at this point, because this isn't just about Tommy completely disregarding the general audience commentary on how harmful Gardner's books are. This is about him not caring about Buck's interests even a tiny bit.
Eddie would be lying if he said he's a hundred percent into everything Buck tells him, but he has never—not once—not listened to what he has to say.
Setting down his beer and turning towards Tommy, Eddie glares, his mouth twitching. "Doesn't take away the fact that he's still very much openly hating on women for most of them."
A beat of silence, "I take it you've read him, then."
There is a taunting tone in his voice that Eddie can't quite ignore. He forces himself to smile, breathes in through the nose, "Wasn't interested in reading him after Buck explained in painful detail why I shouldn't."

“You can fix it?” Chim perks up.
