Summary
"But now, I can't move. How strange," Dick whispers and the words feel very slippery, they disappear in an instant. The ceiling he's staring at now, is really just the floor of his apartment. The apartment where he lives alone. He is so alone, and he is drunk, and his body feels like it is rocketing through space.
A sigh. "You get off once, for sleeping in the hall," she says. "Because I'm a gracious landlord, one free pass, but I don't want an alcoholic living here. Definitely not an alcoholic cop.”
"I'm not an alcoholic," Dick says, but he will be a cop, and the shame cuts through his drunken haze.

Summary
“Bruce, this is not what you think it is,” Jason says into the cellphone a minute later. “You need to turn around, we’ve got a problem.”
A fourth person, one immediately recognizable, is pictured on the final page. The last person is not facing the camera, instead they are intently staring at the blue of a computer screen.
It is Jason's own head of black hair framed by the narrow lines of bookshelves, turned away and unaware.
"A big one, can't emphasize that enough. You need to pick me up, now."
Little handwriting, the kind that is halfway to cursive, lines the bottom of the photograph, and it's written in blue ink- maybe from a ballpoint pen.
Please, be more careful. -

Summary
In one universe, Azrael becomes Batman, and he's the wrong man for the cape. In this one he's even less so.
Tim copes (and not very well.)
-
A Tim Drake-centric whumpfest take on knightfall and its aftermath feat. every adult in Tim's life routinely failing him, a really, really shitty Jean-Paul Valley, Tim Drake revealing his identity to Stephanie Brown much earlier, Dick Grayson Trying His Best, Lady Shiva having a soft spot for Tim, Gotham's villains always having a thing for theatrics, and Bruce Wayne trying to pick up all the pieces. Eventually.

Summary
The dagger she took with her was a simple blade, a wooden handle, and a small, thin piece of metal that released from the hilt with a flick of her hand. Made to be fast and discreet. It felt inconceivably light tucked up in her sleeve, by the fragile skin of her wrist.
Even if the act of killing was not her arena, like it was her husband's, she knew the knife would be more than enough.

Summary
The report is thirty pages long, and it's all words. She has only one picture of Peter Parker and it's not in the report, it's pinned in the middle of her wall above her desk.
She'd scrounged it up off a defunct Facebook page, and it had gone missing a couple days later, so she was glad she printed it. He's just a kid in the picture, wearing a Brooklyn Zoo T-shirt, and grinning.
He still has the same little face- dimples and all. But she's never seen him smile like that.
She is thirty pages in (and should be more) and no closer to understanding why that is.

Summary
The yelling starts suddenly and viciously.
The first time he hears it, it catches him off guard. He's got a piece of mesh ready to line up inside a condenser and he's dropping it. Uncle Owen says something, probably something about not dropping valuable things, but Luke is too busy collapsing to make out the words.
Apparently, he has a stroke, but he can't remember that part.

The boy still cries.

Three letters can hold a lot inside of them. Words are compact packages.
And Peter wants to ask why?

Summary
Tim Drake will do what he has to. Because he needs to. This includes, as fate would have it, saving Robins, and having robins save him. Yes, Robin(s). Plural.
The thing is, Batman needs a Robin, Robin needs a Tim, and Tim, like an open wound needs to heal, needs to help.

Summary
Johnny is not academically inclined. This is what he tells everyone. He is not smart, and hopes that maybe saying this justifies his idiocy. It will be okay if he just admits how he is but a creature made up of impulses, the desire to act on them, and a stubborn streak wide like the grand canyon.
Nobody has ever claimed Johnny was good at making decisions, and many people have claimed the exact opposite.
When he was five, he decided to eat his entire birthday cake just to see if he could. When he was seven, he drank spoiled milk just to see what it would do to his stomach. When he was nine he broke both his wrists falling thirty feet out of a tree he climbed on a dare. Then, when he was twelve he snuck onto Reed's spaceship and he was turned into a human matchstick.
Tonight, he's going to open the door for Peter Parker.
-
Johnny just wants to move to New York, go to college, and step out from under his family's shadow. The hot next door neighbor wasn't in his plan. He's not, like, unwelcome, though.

Summary
But here he is. A pre-programmed contact in his phone like Peter put him in there himself. Tony Stark.
Peter guesses he shouldn’t be surprised. It is a Stark phone. Tony is an eccentric billionaire. This is a logical conclusion.
“Mr. Stark?” Peter says, in disbelief, after he picks it up. He asks: “Is it really you?”
“Hey, we need to take pictures,” Tony says.
-
Or: The Stark internship becomes a real thing. They take pictures.

Summary
By the time Bruce is thirty, he has traveled most of the continental United States, a bit of Alaska, Canada, South America, and even decent chunks of Europe. He doesn't do this willingly, and it isn't fun. He’s not a sightseer. or a tourist traipsing around museums and exploring the local restaurants, he’s a fugitive. Thaddeus Ross tracks him down like a hunting dog with a scrap of his shirt clenched between his jaws. Even as Banner goes far, far beyond what should be the reach of his nose, Ross catches his scent and bounds after him.
Then, one day, Bruce decides to die.

Summary
Remembering almost makes it worse than waking up in the unknown. He knows now where the image came from, Mr. Stark’s face looking down into his own. The horrible moment where all he could see was the sun beating down into the red, dusty air before darkness came. Before waking up in the snow. That moment where he felt his grip not slip, but simply cease to wrap around the man’s shoulder.
Regret fills his heart. He should’ve said something else, anything else. Now Mr. Stark would be left with one final, haunting impression of him, and believe he’d failed.
But when he was dying, the very essence of his soul deconstructing, his legs fading beneath him, there wasn't much time to consider the words slipping out. Peter had thought about dying before. He’d always thought he’d die with a witty remark. Not that. Not an apology.
Actually, remembering definitely makes this worse. It would’ve been nicer to stumble around, next to Howard Stark and Dum Dum Dugan from the Howling Commandos, and still be able to believe it was all some prolonged fever dream. Peter shakes the cuffs encircling his wrists and sighs. They’re not worth breaking free from while he’s still on the boat. It isn’t like he has anywhere to go.

Shinichi noticed that he’d been smiling, thrilled with the fun of a heist and a chase because his face fell so fully when KID continued tumbling backwards.
When KID had dropped off the edge of the roof.
