Summary
Proceeding to have an existential crisis while your supposed rival is nestled happily between your thighs isn’t really an ideal situation to be in, is the conclusion that Lance comes to as he reflects on all that’s happened within the past few days following what he’s started referring to as, ‘the night everything got a whole lot more homoerotic than usual’.
But it’s the third night in a row that he finds himself in this exact same situation, and he’s starting to run out of excuses about why this keeps happening, or on how to explain what the fuck is even going on between them anymore.

It’s been twelve hours since the team barely escaped a secret Galra base whose occupants outnumbered them forty to one. Eleven hours since they realised Allura’s silence on the comms didn’t signal humorous ignorance, but rather that she was knocked unconscious in the crossfire. Ten hours since Coran told them the healing pods might not make it better.
Nine hours since Lance locked himself in his room and refused to come out.

Lance thought everything would be better once he found his resolve. Once he was finally able to get his shit together and stop antagonizing Keith 24/7. He thought once he got his emotions under control they'd finally be able to move past their differences, work together as a team, see eye-to-eye on something for once.
But he'd never been great at anticipating Keith's reactions to, well... anything, really.
After crash landing on an isolated planet with no way of contacting the castle for rescue, Lance is forced to face the repercussions of ignoring the red paladin for an entire month. After everything he'd put Keith through, after everything Keith had put him through... they can put aside petty feelings of jealousy, envy, and loneliness long enough to stay alive for rescue, right?

Summary
Lance McClain constantly dreams of the day he'll finally meet his mysterious soulmate. They don't say much, if anything at all, but they leave him with gorgeous paintings temporarily tattooing his skin. It's not exactly the situation he hoped for, but when he feels the connection between them, he can't bring himself to resent them. As much as he wishes his soulmate would just talk to him, he's resigned himself to being patient. In the meantime, he has a loving family and good friends to help him get by.
Keith Kogane dreads the day he'll finally meet his obnoxious soulmate. He's just an art student who's struggling to find his place in the world. There's so much he hasn't been able to control in his life, and the thought of having a soulmate, just another thing in his life which he also has no control over yet can't do anything about, is a little terrifying. So he ignores the words that occasionally appear on his skin. He has other things to focus on: like being a new student at a big university where his childhood friend and step-brother go.
