Summary
Scar stared down at the sigil carved into the ground. It was just some coincidence in the world generation, some missing blocks that just so happened to take that shape. It wasn't a sign, it wasn't anything nefarious, it wasn't anything that warranted calling out to the others. If Scar happened to scour this area more intensely than the others, that was just a coincidence, too.
OR: Grian is kidnapped. He's not alone when he comes back.

Summary
Pulling Grian into harm's way was a calculated move on Scar's part. He had been aiming for a sense of betrayal, but what he got instead was so much more valuable. Grian trusted him. Grian trusted him, and now Scar could try his hand at all these quaint human things. Grian could no longer do everything himself, so Scar got to do it instead, guided along by Grian's exasperated words.

Summary
Grian wakes up, clutching at his chest and his wings flailing and with a scream stuck in his throat. It never makes its way out of his mouth—there’s something blocking it.
He’s not alone in the room; he can feel hands gripping his shoulders and his face, and there are voices all around him. They’re shouting something, loud and urgent, and Grian flinches back at the noise, raising his hands to his ears. He wants to beg them to be quiet, but his mouth won’t work.
“He’s back, Grian’s back!” someone calls, and the pounding of footsteps echoes in his ears. A hand moves to cup his cheek, and a familiar voice is saying something, trying to soothe him, maybe. He clutches at the person’s wrist, and they rub their thumb against his skin, and he feels safe for a moment.
He tries to ask what happened. He can’t.
Or, Third Life was never a game. It was always meant to be a way to torture those who disobeyed the Watchers.
When Grian returns from Third Life, he returns with no voice. -

So I'm a free-range superhero (35M) specializing in looking out for my community. There's a local vigilante (?M) who I'll call Frog Hop who doesn't believe in business opportunities who's been getting in my way a lot. I think it'd be safe to say that he's my nemesis. Last night there was an important shipment that he got in the way of at the last minute (he has these carrot-themed bombs that cause so much fucking noise and light, I hate them) and when the smoke cleared it turned out that he'd ruined the perfectly legitimate business opportunity and he was there kind of like what are you gonna do. So obviously I told him that he'd ruined my plans for the last fucking time and kind of went after him with my claws and wings. Which I thought was fine, he'd gotten in my way one too many times, right?
But anyways, when I was talking to my friend T (32M) at our coffee meetup this morning the fight was on the news and he said that maybe the hero had taken things too seriously, and the vigilante saw this more as a fun rivalry they had and didn't mean to really hurt the hero.

Suddenly he could take it no more. He dropped his arms, hugged himself tightly and screamed.
He screamed as loudly as he could, screamed because he could. He screamed to let out the years he had lost, the years They had taken from him. He screamed because he didn’t know who he was or how to be. He screamed because he couldn’t live with the silence anymore.
And then he dropped his head, breathing heavily, tears pricking his eyes.
What was he doing? He should go back - go back when there was still a chance They would accept him back. He should stop fighting, just bow his head and do what They told him. They had given him opportunities, gifts, powers.
But the grass under his knees was wet, and it soaked through his pants and it was cool and wet and he focused on that. The morning sun was warm on his back, in a way that the Deep End never was.
And he was Grian. And he was free.
