Summary
Moria Luluka, 35. A hardened, closed-off detective with a shadowy past. Currently operating out of Makoto Mirai Town after a certain incident forced her to leave her previous agency.
Kobayashi Mikuru, 33. A headstrong, yet somewhat scatterbrained single mother currently working as a secretary. Though she tries to put on a brave face, she's been haunted by regrets that she couldn't muster the courage to chase her true dreams when she was younger.
Akechi Anna, 5. A sunny, adventurous child who's completely fascinated by detectives. A bit of an oddball, she's found difficulty in befriending and interacting with the other children in her class at school.
What if Mikuru never got the push she needed to leap headfirst into the detective world? What if Luluka never joined the thieves guild, and begrudgingly continued to work as a detective into adulthood? To find out, we'll need to briefly rewind to an already overwritten era, that being Makoto Mirai Town before Anna's time slip. Here, we'll delve right into these two's broken hopes; and how they were (almost) brought together by one very special little girl.

Akechi Goro didn’t make eye contact when he was told he was going on probation.
He didn’t make eye contact as they led him out of his cell, all the way to the small room where the few things he owned had been kept for six months.
He didn’t make eye contact as they unlocked his cuffs, handed him his clothes, and left the room so he could change.
He only made eye contact when he was outside, watching his probation officer discuss something with his caretaker, as she turned around to look at him. And of course, when Goro was making eye contact with someone, they tended to shrink, just a little. Just enough.
Akechi Goro was a criminal, known in his old highschool for getting into fights, and he knew he still had that same intimidation he had six months ago, when he had watched a cop hesitate before cuffing him.

Goro pushed himself off the wall with his back straight and tall. Perfect posture. He spun on his heel and started to walk off when a familiar face popped up in his vision. A head full of dark curls and gray eyes. It was Ren Amamiya.
Goro flipped to his camera and subtly checked himself out: smudged makeup and frizzy hair. Fuck. He debated the logistics of sneaking into the alley to fix his makeup but decided not to risk it.
Whatever. Be cool, Goro. “Hey, Amamiya. Good evening,” he said under his breath, practicing the small, composed smile he’d give. Shit, Amamiya was getting closer. Goro cleared his throat and smiled, eyes wide and a little frantic. His heart was thudding in his chest, and a thin sheen of sweat had formed on his skin.
