You should at least curse me a little at the end.
Or: In another universe, soulmates have each others' last words marked on their wrists. For Satoru and Suguru, it changes everything and nothing all at once.

“...How on earth would you even know? How are you so sure?” Suguru asked, tugging in a nervous gesture at the duvet like he didn’t realize he was, and Satoru only shrugged, chewing on the inside of his cheek.
“I don’t, really,” he mumbled, looking down. “It’s kind of selfish, honestly,” he huffed, the not-quite laugh more melancholic than it wasn't.
(They were soulmates, Satoru had said since forever about a boy he knew more than he didn't, but who didn't know him. Whether it was his own selfishness, or childish fear of abandonment of a person that didn’t really exist, was something he liked to never think about.)

“Nanamiiiii,” he croons when he meets the other in front of a café he knows Nanami likes to frequent—to see his boyfriend at work, no doubt, a fact Satoru loves teasing him about incessantly. Now, though, Satoru’s got something a little more important to ask him. “Say, you know that wedding Suguru always talks about?” he asks, ignoring the immediate scowl that appears on Nanami’s face when he sees Satoru’s excitable wave.
“Do I,” Nanami mutters into his coffee.
“Do you?” Satoru prods.
Nanami’s scowl deepens. “Of course I do. Geto won’t shut up about it.”
Satoru’s smile twitches. “Right. That’s the one.” He leans in with a smarmy grin. “So, you wouldn’t mind telling me who that little wedding’s for, exactly, right?”
Nanami stares at him blankly. Satoru bats his eyes, once, twice, and after a pause of silence that stretches much too thin, Nanami gets up from his seat.
“Nice talking to you, Gojo-san,” he says blandly as he heads for the door. “Bye.”
