Mo Guan Shan is the happy, sole owner of a coffee shop that runs noon to midnight. He did not expect a half-drunk, half-asleep member of the mafia to wander into his cafe. He definitely did not expect to offer said mafia member a safe place to retire. Several months later, He Tian has moved into the room above his store, and- against all odds and his better judgement- the pair has formed an unlikely friendship.
Old fears start to pose challenges though, and caffeine does not, despite what He Tian insists, solve all problems.

It was torture, knowing he was the primary cause of so much hurt within Mo, the person he loved most. He thought again of Mo’s helpless tears on Christmas night—the look of them as his face contorted in grief, the taste of them as Tian kissed them away.
“You’re not something to be left behind, Guanshan.”
It filled the heavy silence between them. Tian thought he might choke on the thickness of emotion welling up in his throat as he tried to muster adequate words for what was in his heart. “And I’m so sorry that I did. That I left you, when I was supposed to love you. I’ll never stop being sorry for it.”
Direct continuation of chapter 458, where He Tian is back and staying with Mo in his little rental unit. They reconcile the past and his disappearance while falling back into each other and discovering new forms of intimacy.

Guanshan struggled to decipher his feelings. What felt like a quiet rage melted into feelings of selfishness. He would never admit it aloud but He Tian was his anchor. He Tian was…his. He knows it's a ridiculous sentiment but that's how he felt. That's how He Tian made him feel.
But this was way beyond them. There was nothing they could do to stop this.
