Summary
Three years ago, Piltover exiled its golden boy for the crime of studying magic. Now Jayce Talis fixes what Zaun breaks at the bottom of an alley, grease worked permanently under his nails, a beard grown in over the pristine face his city used to want — and every night, in a cellar beneath the floor, he builds the things they forbade him.
He does not mean to build a person. It happens anyway, on a night of bad weather, in a bloom of stolen light: a slender machine of steel and bronze who opens two golden eyes, looks down at Jayce’s bleeding hand, and observes, with great concern, “You are leaking.”
Viktor is the world’s first conscious android. He is also curiously, catastrophically illegal — fascinated by rain, hopeless with social convention, devoted to a small yellow toad, and, Jayce is beginning to fear, the best thing he has ever made. Now Jayce has to keep him hidden. From the customers. From the enforcers who take thinking machines apart in the street. From himself, and the one word he keeps not letting himself write down.

Summary
“You cannot mean that,” Jayce said, strangled.
“Why not?” Viktor asked, in the same hollow voice. “In the eyes of the state, your state, I will always be a criminal except when I lie or alter myself, because what I am is a crime.”
He looked straight at Jayce—with a defiance he was not sure he was possessed of, and even less sure that he could maintain once he was left alone with it—knowing it was the only chance he had, the last chance, at ever voicing it.
How to say it?he thought. No, I will not explain myself anymore; I will not apologise. I have conceded myself and hidden myself all these years, and see where it has led me. There is nothing left to break in me, aside from my spine. And I will not have you break it quite so easily.
[Or: After unwittingly becoming a scapegoat of an elaborate plan of Piltover’s higher echelons to eschew observing their own strict laws, Viktor finds himself caught at the heart of a scandal. Jayce, raised to heed the very values which condemned him, is forced to either take the leap or stand idle and watch his life fall apart. A Maurice and Giovanni's Room inspired AU.]

Summary
Honestly, Jayce had thought his relationship with his estranged ex-partner couldn't get any worse. He'd watched it crash, burn, and die himself. Hell, he'd pulled the trigger. But of course Viktor would just have to prove him wrong, returning on the eve of his greatest scientific achievement to date. And, goddamn, it does not go how he'd expected. In the bad direction.
As he moves up in the world in the aftermath, hailed as both Piltover’s heroic defender and unmatched genius in the field of hextech (when he only ever wanted to be ONE of those things), he’s hounded by his new/old archnemesis and, even worse, celebrity status. Scarier yet, things with Viktor are still . . . complicated. Just because he can’t seem to bring himself to kill him doesn’t mean there’s any chance they’d ever come back together. Surely not out of necessity after Jayce does something stupid. Right?
