Rumi has to fight against the darkest parts of herself growing up, where emotion results in the monster inside baring its teeth. Raised believing she will hurt anyone who gets too close, locked away like an animal when she can't control the emotions. The more stress and shame, the harder it is to hold herself back, the higher the risk to the people around her.
