Summary
It has been three years since Amity Park first saw ghosts, and now it was uncommon to go a day without an explosion or fight of some kind. Heroes have shown up, the Red Huntress, the GIW, The Fenton’s, and Phantom.
Danny Fenton used to be an A+ student; he was going to go on to be an astronomer, an astronaut, and live out his dreams of visiting the stars. No one really knows what happened to the bright kid he used to be, but he was now failing practically every class, and if he wasn’t sleeping in class, he was missing half of it. No one knows what happened to the bright young star, but they want to.
Danny Phantom is the Ghost Prince. After defeating the prior Ghost King, every entity in the Ghost Realm was preparing for his coronation. The day his body turns eighteen years old, he will be the Ghost King. However, they cannot have a halfling as their king, so the only viable option is to kill his human half. Thankfully that has already been written into the coronation process. They just need to collect the ingredients for the potion. Danny Phantom would rather not be king, but he doesn’t get a say in the matter.

The island of Kerch has slowly but surely getting infected by the common cold. It happens every year, people will get sick for a month or so before it vanishes as if it hadn’t ever been there.
Kaz Brekker hates being sick, ever since he was saved from Jakob Hertzoon’s basement, being sick for a month straight after his brother died. Kaz Brekker hates being sick, and does most things to prevent it from happening, most things other than eat right, getting enough sleep, and not walking around at night in freezing weather.
OR
Kaz gets sick after a heist with his Crows, and they take care of him.
Can be read as a stand alone, however takes place after We Pretend That We Can’t Feel (the spiral).

It’s been a bad day. The thought of touch, even through clothes made bile rise in his throat. He could barely move his leg enough to maneuver from his bed to his desk.
If it was a better day, if he wasn’t required to put more thoughts on his leg, if he wasn’t as exhausted, if he’d gotten restful sleep the night prior, if he didn’t have a headache, if he didn’t feel the invisible pieces of glass shredding his throat every time he swallowed, if any of these were not a factor, perhaps the rest of the night wouldn’t have turned out the way it did.

Kaz is having a bad day. He finally decides to ask for help, but finds he can’t.
