Summary
A railway track winds its way across the tundra’s white plateau, the iron struts only kept company by frost flowers, snowflakes, and the twinkling, cloudless night. The horizon stretches away, flat and aimless. Mountains withdraw to the very furthest edge of seeing, hesitant to broach such lorn surrounds. The land dwells in isolation; a quiescent desert, boundless and barren bar two tiny figures lost in its midst.
Little crystals of ice fleck Ren's fur as he flicks an ear against the air's sting; Martyn paces the side of the track, huffing out breaths into cupped hands to keep his fingers from stiffening up. His lips are practically blue yet, Martyn being Martyn, he’s still grinning undaunted. "Now this is going to be a bit of a tricky manoeuvre to pull off, but I reckon we've got the grit, we're pretty hardcore by now."
In which Martyn and Ren do not get run over by a train, though not for lack of trying.
