Sakura Haruka, the king of never backing down from a challenge, grits his teeth and sits face to face with the basil patch. “What do I do with them?” He looks stupid like that - but he always looks stupid, Sugishita thinks.

Sakura holds his hand out for a watering can.
“Not today, stupid. I’ve already done that.”
Sakura snaps his hand back into a fist and looks away.
“You’d know that if you got out of your head for two seconds.”
This brings Sakura two steps closer to starting a physical altercation. He doesn’t, for whatever reason, and instead grits out, “I don’t know what to get for Tsubaki-senpai’s birthday.”

In other words, it takes Sugishita and Sakura a whole afternoon of shopping for Tsubaki’s birthday present to realize they’re on a date - a real date with real feelings.
Well, shit.

Sakura’s a fox spirit teacher from his spirit realm village, in the past he teaching so many kids and people with his knowledge because back then this village didn't get a proper education and since Sakura got in there the village is so grateful, but now after his students grow up and the village finally got a proper education that many new teachers showing up more better than in the past, Sakura finally retired and enjoyed his hundred years of living as a fox spirit.

Summary
Sakura Haruka is famous at Furin High School.
He's strong- but it's not just his strength that catches the attention of the incoming first year students. It's the simple fact that he stands apart from the rest of Furin- he's a part of the school, but he's never fully allied himself with Bofurin. The infamous Endo Yamato spent much of his first and only year at the school attempting to recruit him, to equally little success.
For Sakura's part, he doesn't want to have anything to do with other people- but a certain pushy first year student might just change that.
