Summary
That's the difference between you and me.
This darker version of Willow squatted by her in a grim mockery of where this had all started, her face a stoic, murderously enraged mask. Every part of her hurt and Faith stared in utter terror at this pale spider-veined monster and with that sickening realization of just what lay behind that rage, she realized this might be how she went out.
You know what it feels like, now. Your body, completely in the control of something you can't stop, and you can't control. You hurt me, Faith. Went out of your way to try to ruin my life.
Willow then stood up right as her friends had found her, knowing what that light had meant even when Faith didn't.
But I'm not like you, and I never will be. Right now. Try me again and I'll flay you and burn you to ashes.
Faith found herself fully believing Red in that moment for reasons besides being on her back after being brutally ragdolled, not least of them the relish in that tone as the pale spider-veined monster had grinned at her for the first time.

Summary
"Hellions."
His voice had a faint dismay.
"That's what happened to-"
"To?"
"A victim," was all he'd said, then. He stared at her. "Oh God, Red really went and did it, didn't she?"
Buffy's nose twitched.
"147 days."
"Huh." It was a reaction more like that of Oz than not, and that made Spike warier in some ways, and he had gone up to her and had seemed to steel himself.
"Pardon me, Slayer-" and as she'd tilted her head he'd struck her nose only to stare as did she when there was no reaction. For a moment his game face was visible as he looked down at Willow but Buffy shook her head.
"I'm me, Spike. Believe me."

"Oh."
Willow relaxed a bit as she met the supposed Coven lady's gaze directly.
"What?"
"Usually the uh, the jocks don't go anywhere near the Wicca group."
Willow shrugged. "Didn't care in high school, I'm really not going to start caring now."
She leaned forward, catching the eyes of a pretty dirty blonde with a zigzag part who was very clearly smitten with her.
"Now we're here for a Wicca group, right?"
"....."
"Yeah?"
"Well how about spells?"
Silence, for a moment, then the blonde with the zig-zag part spoke up. "S-She's r-right..."

Summary
"It would seem," Giles was reluctant as he looked at the pages of the book, "that Tara's suspicions are correct."
He looked at them. "Not only do the new laws manifest, and in ways subtly and sometimes grandly different, but..." he looked at Dracula, who was rather remarkably well put together for a being that had transformed twice, lost his clothes, regained them, and had a remarkable talent for posing as if he hadn't thoroughly embarrassed himself in every single way imaginable, "writing in this book creates them."
"Oh great," Willow murmured, "just what we all need. The power to rewrite reality itself in our hands. Because if there's one thing the Scooby gang's proved it's that we're totally and absolutely responsible with power and would never, ever abuse it."

Summary
"You changed."
He was not surprised to see Cecil in his house, even if he'd shushed him from being too loud. The children were sleeping.
"Yes, I did." There was a proud tone to his voice.
"Could this Nolan? You told the truth. Not a pleasant one but you did speak it. He lied."
"Of course he did." Connor huffed. "Nolan is here to conquer Earth. He wants his own little Viltrumite or two, and then he'll take them and raise them into being good little soldiers and bathe the starways in this planet's blood."
"You were able to-"
"My expectations were very low. Acceptance. Friendship. Hugs. Marriage. Children. As I keep saying, a man with a name, not a beast without one. All it took to change me. Teach a man he's lower than a dog and then show him there are other ways, he will gladly accept them. And if I need to let the old beast out to play from time to time..." Connor shrugged. "Sometimes Conquest is necessary. Far, far less than what Viltrum taught me."
"I cannot deny that," Cecil mused.
"Guardians can't, either. They're merciful to me. They give me chances to learn. To learn the value of restraint."
He leaned forward.

Summary
"You're not so scary."
She'd grinned at him, for a moment.
"I'm your worst-"
Azar.
A brilliant flash of flame erupted and then there was a sound of falling sand and a dust pile, and she'd groaned at the sight of Xander and Jesse being led onward and missed entirely the astonished Buffy Summers dropping a stake at just what she'd seen.
"Dammit, Xander.

Summary
"I really did think if it was you or Will in a scenario like this that she'd be more angry at me than you."
Tara's scowl was sharp. "Will's always seen magic as a tool and has done amazing things with it. Even when she respects it now it was the ashes of her older mistakes. Magic, for me, was what tied me to my mom. Now all I have are pictures, and only two of them. And you, Buffy, you took that from me."
Buffy glared. "I didn't have a choice."
"Will was winning that fight. Another few seconds-"
"I hit Kennedy for saying that."
"You know if you hit me Will will-"
"Only thing stopping it. I saved the world, Tara."
Tara pointed to the table. "No writing, Buffy. No writing of any kind. No music, no art. And this is just the first month. Killing magic didn't just stopped spells. And someone has to fix this."

"It might help us figure out something to beat the First."
Her gaze met Buffy's. "A weapon, maybe."
Her eyes flickered to Olaf's hammer.
"I mean maybe Olaf's little tool there-" Anya broke out in a sudden gigglefit that Willow ignored as an Anya-ism.
"I don't think it'd work on something you can't hit."
"Well that's kind of the point, isn't it? It can't hit. The minions it'll need to do that for it...."

Summary
"Xander will repair the door." Will said, and then she had faced off against her father and her brother.
"Get out of my apartment."
"You're the girlfriend?"
Her back was stiff.
"I said get out."
"See I don't like your tone."
Donny had gone up to her.
"I missed the part, redneck, where I'm supposed to care what you think."
Tara couldn't resist a smirk at that and Donny had become red-faced with rage and then Willow had just raised her right hand and they began to feel the immensity of her power, that brooding thunderstorm feeling and the silence was deafening.
"You broke down my door. You're lucky if the landlord doesn't sue you for that. Get. Out."
They ran, then, and that was when the spell of fear began to break.
"Come on."

"Then why did you?" Her tone was sharp.
"I keep going dark. The frat house, then Amy's spell. I'm still the monster that tried to end the world-"
"No."
She saw the disbelief in her eyes and she sighed.
"No, Will, you're not. The darkness that took you did so after a year of resisting because you were angry, because after a year of pain, and suffering, it all seemed almost useless." Willow blinked.
"Dark Willow is not you, not in the ways that actually count. The hazard of having a lot of power is that if things go wrong...."
Willow looked down, humming.
"Why do you expect me to believe everything good you say about me but never believe what I say about you?"
"Because you are good, Tara. And I'm not."

Summary
It had made her close friends with Spike, of all beings. At least it had before Xander had told her about the incident that had happened, had asked her to get involved. If the event with the vampire itself wasn't enough, now this. Willow's power, that thing that had frightened her years ago, the thing she was sure if they'd been together she could have managed rather than fuel the flame in efforts to suppress it with talk of 'darkness within' was fully unleashed. A rough beast slouched toward Jerusalem, hour come round at last.
Tara took a deep breath.
"For Willow, and for all of them," and she took a fuzzy pink sweater,

Summary
"Willow Danielle Rosenberg-" and then she felt her girl's finger on her lips.
"Faith is a Slayer, Tara. She can't atone for what she actually did in jail. That was an idea, and a stupid idea, one that should never have happened. And if she's here, on the Hellmouth, Buff can actually live that normal life she wants to live. Go back to school and all. I have a couple of programs I'll have the time to sell, and that should solve a lot of the financial difficulties, too. After bringing Buff out of heaven, I can't add to this 'oh hi, I resurrected you against your will, here's a bunch of bills, good luck paying them. ' "
Tara frowned.
"Isn't that something Mr. Giles could also do?"
Willow snorted.
"Yeah but Giles is gonna rage at me when he finds out what I did, and how I did it."
She shook her head.
"I love you, Tara, I really do. Nothing will ever change that, but it's what we should have done in June. We should have given Faith a second chance, no matter how many reasons people have to hate her. She won't be the B-team Slayer here, either. She'll very directly be the Slayer. And I'm going to do this."
