“For fuck's sake, Agent Reed, now you're just pissin’ me off. Take it up with Fowler if you so object to this arrangement and save everyone your howling. Nothin’ any of us can do,” Hank calls from his desk, his thumbs tracing circles on his temples.
And that about zaps Gavin's last drops of work-appropriate manners for the day, his sweat-sticky skin pulsating with his temper and the heat. “Oh, shut it, old man. Maybe you should go back home and finally drink yourself to death. Pull that trigger. Nobody would miss your sorry ass.”
And the title of Lieutenant would go to someone who actually earned it, instead of being handed out to Fowler's best buddy from school who hasn't achieved shit since the Red Ice bust a decade ago.

Gavin feels his entire world shatter as he’s delivered the news. Sitting on the cot of a hospital bed with a bullet wound to his shoulder that was still healing. A bullet that he had taken for Nines, only for the other to be fucking hit by a truck by their suspect head on.
The fucker who, apparently, couldn't even remember him now.
Fuck his life.

Nines gets severely damaged and his memory gets reset. Now Gavin has to deal with the fallout and he's not dealing with it well.

Gray like everything Nines wasn’t allowed to be.”
A long broken detective aching for connection gets partnered with an android struggling to understand his place in the world. Despite all odds, they teach each other not just what it means to be alive, but what it means to live.

Nothing in the world, no amount of Expect-The-Unexpected style training, could have prepared him for Spock in the morning- still half asleep, hair messy, eyes bleary; all soft, frayed edges and almost-smiles. It was like nothing Kirk had ever seen before -he was like nothing Kirk had ever seen before- and oh, the universe was so kind and so cruel to do this to him, to let him wake up with Spock for the first time but not in the way he wanted to.
