Summary
Neil Josten had become much more open with the Foxes after the events of his second kidnapping.
That wasn't to say he was an open book, not even close. Most of the Foxes could count what Neil had said about himself with their fingers, and, unless it was Andrew (or Kevin - but chances are that came from their history together more than any actual sharing from Neil) they wouldn't even make it onto the second hand. And when Neil did mention something about himself, it was never anything big. He liked cookies, the colour orange was growing on him, and he could do a perfect British accent because his mother had been from England.

Summary
In general, Neil Josten managed to keep his two lives in balance. To most, he was a nineteen year old art student with a part-time job in a mostly-normal coffee shop. On the other hand, he worked for his uncle, running errands in exchange for magical wishes. But when he’s paired with Andrew Minyard for a collaborative art project, Andrew starts to unearth secrets too dangerous to reveal. Neil knows a threat when he sees one, but when his two lives start to collide, Neil will learn that some things are worth fighting for.

Neil stilled, scarcely breathing. It sounded like an elevator, or maybe like an alert in a hospital. Like a notification chime. Neil kept his body tensed, ready for whatever made that noise.
‘Error initialising.’
He’s gone insane. The little sleep he’s managed and his grief have converged and melted his brain, because there’s no other explanation for Neil to be seeing words in front of his face right now. “What the fuck?” Neil breathed quietly.

There were high chances it was supposed to be some sort of peace offering that, given the smirk on Sheena’s face, she absolutely decided to not accept. Absently, Neil thought that the face she was making made her look even uglier than she normally would, which should be impossible. His captain would be very proud to know he decided to keep that thought to himself. Neil mentally prepared to be attacked, but instead Sheena looked at Aaron.

She was one of the few he least tolerated since joining the Denver Outlaws, always sticking her nose in other people’s lives. “What the fuck is that, Josten?! Did you get married or what?!”
Neil spared her a scowl, not appreciating having his hearing compromised and the attention of all his teammates on him. “Yes,” he said flatly and went to the treadmill to continue his workout.

Neil shouldn't submit himself to that sort of scrutiny, especially not with Naomi at his side. Naomi wasn’t only missing from the Wesninskis’ circle; she was a child reported missing to the police. Her infant face had only stopped showing up on milk cartons a few months ago.

With only three months left of his senior year, Percy Jackson is kicked out of high school - again. It's not his fault, but the faculty at his New York high school fails to see through Mist. Maybe he is truly dead; Voldemort killed him instead of Cedric that night and he’s just hallucinating, his last minutes that feel like an eternity before his brain completely shuts and there’s nothing but void, welcoming and endless.
