Odysseus doesn’t look up as he hears the voice of his beloved wife. He knew it was just in his head. It always was. However, he does stop for a moment.
“Oh, come on, Ody. Don’t stop now. It’s nice to watch you. Be a good boy and keep going, yeah?”
That was new. Odysseus had never hallucinated Diomedes’ voice before…
Or Odysseus, after being forced to sleep with Circe, tries to forget by looking through old journal entries and jerks off with the help of hallucinations of Penelope and Diomedes.

Summary
Diomedes’ steps quickly turned into long, nervous strides, his sandals sinking into the mud, and his vision blurred by the rain. His lips were pressed into a tight grimace and his brows drawn together in what the less attentive might have taken for a threatening expression, but which in truth concealed nothing more than intense nervousness.
After all, the Achaean camp under the storm became strangely silent and almost reserved. To the point that not even the sentries - spears tight against their chests, cloaks drenched - seemed inclined to stop a drenched king with an intimidating air, striding along like a man on a critical mission.
And he did have a mission. Only it wasn't important; it was actually stupid.

Odysseus stands next to his friend. His tent had strategically, by him of course, been destroyed. Of course Polites didn't know. Which left his dear, lovely Polites without a place to sleep, and what better idea then for him to sleep with Odysseus in his large, warm, safe tent. Which would be far, very far from that stupid Laenor.
There Odysseus could hold him in his warm, safe arms. There Odysseus could make sure his dreams were kind and benevolent. They could sleep as husbands.
