Light takes a sip of his old fashioned and checks his watch. How much longer is this show going for? He really should be studying. Why did he let Yamamoto drag him out like this?
“Oh my god,” a whispered voice says from somewhere down the bar, “I’ve seen this act before. Holy shit. You’re going to love this.”

“Whatever helps Light sleep at night,” L mutters to no one.
“Literally,” he adds with a wild smirk. Light hates him. Light’s not even Kira and he’s going to kill him.
“Has anyone ever told you you’re not funny?”
“Light has, on multiple occasions, I believe,” L says, tapping at his chin in fake thought. He’s still talking in third person in a way that reminds Light of Misa, absurdly. Evidently, Light is surrounded by lunatics. “Light also wants to kill me, though, so his opinion can be disregarded.”

Light struggles to share a room with L, for reasons that are wholly L’s fault because nothing has ever been wrong with Light ever. In an uncharacteristically empathetic moment, L offers him a truce.
