Summary
It's 8 years after the events in The Outsiders story. Ponyboy has a new position working in journalism at a prestigious newspaper in Boston. He is investigating a story about abuse in the foster care and juvenile reform system. Meanwhile, mysterious memories from his past that lain hidden for years are emerging and have a story of their own to tell that Pony has suppressed and doesn't want to recognize.
What if Pony's penchant for denial comes with a much bigger price?
This is by far the darkest Outsiders fic I've ever written, which is new ground for me.
Angst, child abuse, animal abuse, psychological abusd.unaliving included.

Summary
Usually, trouble follows Ponyboy. And this time it does, but because Soda had made a bad mistake that could cost Ponyboy his life.
Oh, important note. This a continuation story. It is part of a timeline that begins with Ponyboy's first year after the events of The Outsiders and dealing with grief, Typewriter which introduces Beth, It's all falling apart, which is where Darry gets into trouble, and Trophy where the character Wyatt is introduced. The stories go in that order, so that by this point, Pony is a senior in high school. The previous stories include important story points that continue in this story, like Pony working at the Stables with Soda, getting his paper on the road to being published, how he meets Rosa and other things. Just so it doesn't seem too disjointed, it's all one story.

Summary
What was Ponyboy's first week back at school after Windrixville like? When I was 16, my father suddenly died in the late summer and I became an orphan. I remember how surrealistic going back to school was a few weeks later. I used my own life experiences and references from the story to create what I imagined Pony's first week would be like, returning after trauma, loss and grief.

To the Greasers, survival was a study in two colors: the ash of the lot and the red of the fray. They lived in the shadows of their own reputations until a quiet kid with a book began to smudge the lines.
Ponyboy didn’t mean to be a catalyst; he simply existed in a different hue.
Through him, the world stopped being a charcoal sketch and started to look like something wet and living—a messy wash of color that even the deepest shadows couldn't quite iron out.

Darry rolls his eyes. “Yeah, baby, I feel plenty safe. Now, get some sleep alright?”
Or, After Johnny kills Bob, he and Ponyboy run to Darry for help instead of Dally.
