Things didn't go as you thought they would when you stole from Erika Diamonds, of about 6 necklaces worth a god damn lot so you could support yourself and your family from living on the streets. A necessary evil, you reassure yourself.
Now, what would happen when you're confronted of your actions? In an alleyway, pinned flush against a wall, by a skeleton sweating bullets. Surely, escaping that horrid situation was the right call.
But was it really, when now 14 Halloween decorations are stalking you? And what's with those suits?!

Summary
In the 1850s, when monsters and humans coexisted and the land was divided by countries and nations, one thing stood out. And apparently, it was you.
A slave, who spent her whole life working in the mansion of Mt. Ebott. You were a kind and well-mannered woman, as the scars trickling up your body could be proof of your discipline. You knew to speak little of yourself, you knew never to disobey the orders the head maids gave you, and always to know your place. Almost as if they treated you no different than a dog. So to speak, it was your life, and the reason why the head maids kept you alive. But little did you know you'd become the interest of the Lords that would arrive once a century.
The Lords you- the maids cared the mansion for. Fighting battles and travelling from one land to another consistently, they needed a place to rest, therefore the purpose of the mansion resting on Mt. Ebott. And since these maids were more than ecstatic for the upcoming arrival of these lords, you were wise to avoid them. Sorta.
Who knew dressing and acting differently would only attract unwanted attention? And they sure had a bone to pick with you.

Summary
Working as lawyer in Ebott city is about as useful as a screen door on a submarine, but it's how you've chosen to make your living. You're no vigilante warrior. You're not the judge, jury, nor the executioner. It's not your responsibility to decide which clients are guilty or not. It's simply your responsibility to defend them.
Despite this principle that you hold, defending the infamous mobster, Sans Serif, may be the largest concession you've ever made in your morality. Still, he's a client like every other. Even if he is the guiltiest son of a bitch you've ever had the displeasure of defending.
If you can survive defending him, you could defend anybody.

You flush red, your act waning away. “Excuse me-!”
“If you truly want my forgiveness, you will beg for it properly. Otherwise, I will pass down my verdict.” He clears his throat, but you literally jump at the opportunity, scrambling off the chair.
“Please, Nightmare,” you murmur. “Please let me make it up to you. Let me show you exactly how productive I can be.
