Summary
The Metamorphoses was Ovid's magnum opus, which dealt with several mythological transformations. (This included gender, human<->animal, and other things! Totally worth checking out if you want weird and wacky stories.)
It's also the source of one of the versions of the Orpheus and Eurydice myth: where Orpheus pleads with Hades and Persephone to let him take his late wife Eurydice home. Orpheus was a skilled musician, and moved the deities of the underworld. But he couldn't keep to the one condition imposed upon him...
Actaeon and Diana (Romanised Artemis, but referred to in the Metamorphoses as Diana) is another story contained within. In this, the hunter Actaeon spies on the maiden Diana. He is transformed into a stag, and his own hunting dogs devour him.
Other Classical references are likely. The author is a nerd.

Summary
“Expect signs of PTSD,” the social worker warned him, “Extreme mood swings, risky behavior, aggression, and self-harm are all things to look out for. I would recommend counseling.”
Severus hasn’t seen any of that yet. Harry is extremely polite, neat, and personable. He likes gardening and football. He helps make grocery lists and cook dinner.
He knows there is more: clues that he’s missing and behaviors he’s overlooking, hints that Harry is struggling more that he’s letting on, but overall, Harry seems remarkably well-adjusted. It’s unnerving.
Because Severus knows that Harry spent a significant portion of his childhood confined to a single cupboard under the stairs. He knows that Harry was not fed consistently and did not have clean clothes that fit him. That he was hit.
By all accounts, Harry should be struggling. In the eight years since Severus first met Harry as an infant, his parents died, he was raised in an abusive household, and then forced to live with an estranged family friend he didn’t remember.
It worries Severus that he’s not seeing it, like Harry could be drowning right in front of him and he wouldn’t even know.
