Summary
Over the clanking of trunks being loaded on trolleys and the cacophonous babbling of children greeting parents, two brothers sat silently in a quickly-emptying train. The younger one was terrified, knew that the only thing waiting for himself and his brother was disaster. He held onto his brother’s sleeve with a white-knuckle grip, chewing on the inside of his lips until he tasted blood. The older had spent the ride pretending he was fine, that his life at school was as he liked it and that his life at home was something better than hell. The only thing that grounded him was the sound of his baby brother’s shallow breaths and the knowledge that he was still alive to take them. He intended to make sure his brother stayed breathing for however long he damn-well chose to, even if he had to buy that freedom with his own life.
“Do you remember the plan?” the older asked.
“Yes,” the younger nodded.

Summary
Her first memory within this new world was that of a tiny, pudgy hand in her own and a larger boy’s in her other. Regulus Black was to her left, curled into her side as if there weren’t spaces upon spaces of their expensive crib, and Sirius Black above her. Hanging precariously over the side and on his tippy toes with a mesmerizing smile, she never thought he, or at least the character he, was capable of making. It stretched when she squeezed two of his fingers.
My big brother. She stared at him, amazed, our big brother.
To someone who passed away alone, his love was a balm to her tired soul. To someone who knew of his best qualities, his inert bravery and loyalty, she thought it only fair to return it hundreds-fold.
Or: a modern girl reincarnated as Regulus Black’s twin and re-writes the story, her cascading effects as seen by others.

“How am I here?” Regulus asked breathlessly, “I shouldn’t-”
“Kreacher.” Sirius said, “He found me and took me to you.”
Regulus's eyebrows furrowed, “That’s impossible.”
Sirius shrugged, and crossed his arms over his chest with a scowl, “It’s what happened.”
“I told him he wasn’t to tell any family-” Regulus started when realisation dawned on both their faces,
“I’m no longer a part of the noble and most ancient house of Black, Reg,” Sirius said, he had an odd expression on his face like he was surprised Regulus could have forgotten.
Kreacher finds a loophole that saves Regulus's life— and now everyone has to deal with the consequences.

Summary
Regulus Black had many regrets. One of them was never having the chance to be a normal teenager, another was creating the persona of “The Perfect Son”. But perhaps his biggest regret was letting others turn him into the monster they wished for him to be. Or perhaps it was many other things that were insignificant now.
But Regulus knew that one of his biggest regret wasn’t dying, cold and afraid in a cave where his body will never be found. No, his biggest regret, if he still had such a thing, may have been that he was never able to put himself first above all else.
But that is exactly what Regulus Black is going to do this time around.
He’s going to create chaos, enact vengeance, practice his music, murder a few people, have a one night stand, create more chaos, drink, party, and make a mess of things so bad to the point that by the end of this Regulus Black will have no “Perfect Son” façade to maintain, no reputation attached to his name.
And well, if he saves the world, kills a few Death Eaters, saves lives, gets laid, falls in love, starts a war or three, gets a pet dragon and kills the Dark Lord. . .
Well, then, the only thing he can say for sure is that this is going to be fun.

Summary
"Sirius can’t really stop staring. His little brother is stood in front of him for the first time in almost two years, eyes wide and accusing.
“What the fuck are you doing here?” Sirius tries again, “You- you shouldn’t be here. You’re going to get us both killed. Which could be your goal, for all I know.”
It’s not. Sirius knows that much. Or hopes it, at least.
Regulus gives him that look, the one he’s had perfected since he was about 8 years old, “Well, you should’ve thought about that before immediately letting me into your home, you half-wit. I could in fact be here to murder you, why would you do that?”
“Because it’s-”
Because it's you! Sirius wants to shout. It’s you, don’t you remember that I'd do anything for you?"
or: Peter joins the Death Eaters just a little bit earlier. Now Regulus has to save his idiot brother.
