Summary
The original, alternate ending to The Lord of Ripples and Forgotten Things, but can be read as a standalone chapter.
-Percy does reach his sixteenth birthday on the day Olympus is nearly razed. The prophecy is fulfilled, albeit in a manner that none of them had seen coming. Bodies lay at his feet, and the other demigods’ feet as well. There is blood and dirt and grime. Marble columns are toppled, and minor gods are left without homes.
But the Olympians are victorious against the threat that is Kronos.
The gods offer him a choice. A gift, some would call it. It is a curse to others. Poseidon cannot decide which it is.

To think that his son had similar scars on his mortal soul…

I woke up on the warm sand. That’s weird, I’d been in my cabin last night. My eyes opened and I was bombarded by the sun. Weird. I sat up, shocked to find a cut along my abdomen.
What happened?
I looked around, expecting to at least see the cabins on the rise of the ground. Nothing. No clashing of swords from the arena, no chatting as campers walked back to their cabins. No pegasi flying above the ground.

One of the little girls had a brazen necklace hanging from around her bedpost - it had a pendant of the sun on it. It glowed slightly when Nausithoe brushed it, and she knew that this was the girl, Gracie. Apollo was never one for subtlety.
Or, Nausithoe brings Gracie to Camp Half-Blood, but is interrupted by Apollo, seeking the safety of his lover and daughter.
