Summary
Now, Astarion was a different story. He’d had nothing, then, without anyone noticing how, he’d suddenly had a gaudy tent that was clearly sized for a family, most likely pilfered from one of the many crates belonging to the tieflings piled near the entrance to the grove. And then, joining that, there were rugs, and blankets, and a growing collection of pillows, enough to build a fort. When they were finally ready to travel to the Underdark, Astarion had tried his best to pack and wrap it all into a manageable bundle.
Tried.
Gale remembered the pouted look of frustration. Had wanted to laugh about it, especially considering he was still a bit bitter about Tav choosing the vampire, of all people, honestly, but then Astarion’s frustrated frown had changed ever so slightly to pained resignation. The sight of it had made something twist uncomfortably in Gale’s stomach.

Summary
Astarion is near the docks when he feels Cazador's compulsion on him snap. He doesn't think twice. He just takes the next available ship out of Baldur's Gate. Its destination: The City of Splendors. Waterdeep.
*
Gale takes back the glass, now empty, and then seems to fidget a little. “There is something I wanted to get your opinion on- but it can wait until you’ve recovered. You don’t look well at all- no offense meant, of course.”
“None taken,” Astarion says sweetly. “Please go on. Tell me exactly what it is about my appearance that you find lacking.”

Summary
“ Dying was a distant memory by now. He recalled the pain, tearing into every fiber of his being, and with it the cold, numbing loss of feeling that came after. But it was muted; by two hundred years of pain that were arguably much, much worse.”
—basically—
As Astarion begins to turn from undead to living—the result of a Wish spell—he reflects on life itself.

Summary
Gale's head snapped up to look at the white, bat-winged tressym who stood tensely on the rug before them. "Astarion?" he asked, amazed. "Is that you? What in the world happened?"
"How in the Hells should I know?!" Astarion cried. "One moment I'm my gorgeous self, the next, I'm a bloody cat!"
"Tressym," Gale and Tara both corrected as one.

Summary
Astarion wasn’t sulking, nor was he hiding from Gale. He was simply taking a relaxing moment to himself. A relaxing moment in the dark, pressed between boxes in what was presumably a storage room.
Sometimes it's easier to ignore an issue when you've got more imminent problems to deal with. Now that he's finally safe, Astarion finds it might be harder to ignore said issues.
This is a direct continuation of 'Bat'tered by the Storm.

After seven years of being unable to communicate at all, Wyll has a voice again. He's ecstatic and overwhelmed in equal measures, and he delights in being able to finally talk to people.
But his friends seem to think the person who saved him, Astarion, might make a devil's deal of his own, by sacrificing his siblings to the Hells for power.
Of course Astarion isn't going to do that. There's no way he would.

"Father," he whispers, feeling all of a sudden lightheaded with fright. "Please..."

Summary
'I've missed you Astarion,' he says, and Astarion can feel Wyll's deep voice rumbling against his chest.
Astarion pulls back slightly to eye him, tries to look haughty and affronted. 'And yet you seem not to have been in much of a rush to see me; all I receive is one tiny scrap of a note, probably days if not weeks after you've returned. You know my address, you could have made the effort to come to me rather than forcing me to come begging to your door.'
Wyll is back in Baldur's Gate after finding a fix for Karlach's heart, and Astarion is curious to see where he now stands with his old friend.

"Oh Gods, he's been turned to ashes!" Karlach cried out.
"No, not ashes," Halsin said, frowning in confusion. Looking closer, the wildflowers next to the clothing were trampled slightly, as if something small had crawled through them.

"Um, guys, you might want to, ah, well..."

Summary
Halsin had never taken himself for a fatherly man. That was, until he found an elfling in Szarr’s basement. Will he be able to care for this terribly abused child?

“He’s as real as you and me. He was just— there. Silent and motionless, watching me. I would have missed him, had he not clashed with the wall. It’s— it’s uncanny, Gale. He has the clear evidence of a beating, but I feel there is more to it. We haven’t met each other, yet he is utterly terrified of me. A abused child’s wariness toward an unknown adult would be natural, but this is— animalistic fear. And his wounds, Sylvanus—”

Summary
The woman tilted her head. "Do you know what we just did to you?"
Astarion's eyes darted between them, perplexed by the question. What they did to him…?
That's when he noticed the Selûnite pendant around her neck. She was a cleric… had she healed him? He tried to piece together a scenario that made any sort of sense, but the details barely added up. Had these people found him? If so, why did they drag him across the city? How did they do such a thing? Why wasn't he in Harborside getting treatment? He wasn't sure exactly how severe his injuries had been, but he knew for a fact that a simple healing potion would not have done a thing to mend him back together.
"Are you… healers?" he asked.
The bearded man's mouth dropped open. "Healers—? What? No," he began to reach for him, but thought better of it and awkwardly closed his fist instead. "Astarion, it's me. Gale."
Astarion didn't recognize his name or his face in the slightest, but the way he was looking at him gave him pause.
"I… I don't…" Astarion shook his head slightly, racking his brain. "I'm sorry… Have we met before?"
