”Don’t go to him tonight,” the words left Hayden’s mouth before he could even process them.
“Are you being serious right now?” Shane snapped his head toward him.
Hayden took a breath before responding, putting effort to change his tone. “Just— why don’t you come over tonight, Jackie and the kids would love to see you.”
“Maybe another time.”
Hayden was trying to communicate something without even knowing exactly what it was. All he knew in that moment is that he didn’t want Shane to go.
“So I guess this is where you lose to him and crawl on your knees for him all in one night.”

“Kiss me,” Rozanov whispers.
Shane cannot help the strangled breath he lets out, nor can he help how harshly his lips crash into Rozanov’s. He moves so quickly that he’s sure one of them will have a small bruise or visible puffiness tomorrow, but he doesn’t care.
He is lost in a place that exists out of time and space, his skin tingling everywhere Rozanov’s body touches. Their torsos are pressed together and Rozanov’s hand is grasping the back of Shane’s neck, pulling his face even harder against his own, just to have more of him. Rozanov’s tongue is sliding quickly, hungrily, familiarly against Shane’s. The four years Shane has waited to do this shrink into a wrinkle, bridging 2009 and now, as though the universe had not so unfairly yanked them apart and they could start their rookie year over again.--
Years after Ilya left the league prematurely, Shane and Ilya are both passengers on a four-month, around-the-world cruise.

It was a dangerous plan.
Perhaps a foolish one too.
There were lots of things that could go badly.
Things they probably hadn't even thought of yet.
And Rozanov held all the real risk here.Or a marriage of convenience fic that starts in 2009 and changes the rest of the story.
