Summary
Jing Yuan receives a fatal blow, but instead of passing on peacefully to the afterlife, he regains consciousness to find himself transported into the past, before the Quintet had formed.
This second chance he resolves to live without regrets, to prevent the tragedies to come, and to pursue his first loves.
Aka I had Feels about Jing Yuan being…kind of left behind in the past after 1.2. Wrote this to comfort myself.
Note: This is our present day in-game aged Jing Yuan transported into the past. I conveniently made no existing Jing Yuan present in that “alternate universe”.

And while Jing Yuan had clearly taken care in shaping their conversations up until now— steering topics to Yingxing, to Dan Feng, to how easily Jing Yuan fit into their dynamic, and to this very moment— Dan Feng was not going to choose him.
He would not reward attempts to manipulate Imbibitor Lunae, even if the attempts were endearing and made by Jing Yuan.
In which Dan Feng and Yingxing resign themselves to the inevitability of Jing Yuan sliding into their complicated relationship. At this point? Couldn’t hurt. Might even help. Let him try.

“Told him?” Cyno asks slowly, a wary glint in his eye. “What exactly haven’t you told him?”
“That I’m getting married,” Kaveh grimaces. “I wanted to tell him myself – I suppose I do want him at the wedding after all, you know – but I didn’t get a chance yet. You know what it’s like, trying to have a conversation with him.”
