    What's worse: being tormented by violent visions from Vecna or suffering from the mixed signals of Mike Wheeler? Depends on the day for Will Byers. Flashbacks of shared touches from last summer and the impending doom about the night to come have Will's head spinning as the party enter the Upside Down to enact Operation Beanstalk.

    Meanwhile, Mike Wheeler navigates his anxiety about the hellscape he's in and crashes out over the thought that Will had a crush on him and has since moved on.

    OR

    Mike walks over to him, reaching out his hand next to Will’s, enhancing the bulb’s flickering into a steady pulse. Their fingers brush, and the sensation sends a buzz of nerves up Will’s arm. Will lets himself savor it, thinking of Robin’s words. Signals.

    I’m going to die anyway, he thinks, letting himself keep his arm outstretched a few moments more. He isn’t looking at the lamp anymore though; Mike bends over, inches away, and Will’s gaze is the ocean tides to the moon in Mike’s eyes. Will tucks the stolen glance away, safe in the vault where he’s kept moments like this over the years and follows Mike’s gaze towards where his is fixated.
