Summary
They’ve talked about past pursuits and old grudges of exes past, sure, but they don’t really talk about dating or romance in the present tense. It’s a topic both of them have studiously avoided, probably in favor of not having to admit just how abysmal the present tense is in that context—but here Cassie is, revealing to her newfound friend and longtime coworker, that she is so horny she could rip her hair out.
Dana pauses, cigarette halfway to her mouth. “That long, huh?”
She raises a singular eyebrow and Cassie tries not to squirm, mentally berating herself. “Well—yeah. Too long, really.”
There’s another moment of silence, Dana finally taking a drag before quirking her mouth on the exhale. “Makes two of us.”

Cassie’s breath hitches. It’s loud in the silence of the car. She blinks. Licks her lips. She doesn’t know if she wants to cry or press her thighs together. Either way, she needs to say something.
“Way too long,” she says. Her voice is rougher than she’d like. She clears her throat. “But it’s over now, and I am really looking forward to crashing on your couch.”
