It was quite simple when you looked at it this way; Spock, forced to fight to the death for his and McCoy's life day after day, had lost his mind in the process. He'd become Atillius's perfect killing machine, and in the end, it had driven him insane."

Summary
Doctor McCoy sure as hell doesn’t compromise care, confidentiality, or his goddamn conscience for anyone. He has no problem with extracting a mind-controlling slug from Uhura's sinuses, performing a blood transfusion between a human and a sentient puddle, or administering therapy to a crew-wide hallucination of a god.
But catching feelings for Spock?
Now that’s just irresponsible.
And ultimately, it's all Jim’s fault.
