Summary
That fascination never left, not when Ivan started to seek Till out at the playground and not when Till somehow allowed him access to his space. There was no end to Ivan’s curiosity, always some word or action that fascinated him more than the last.
Till was an anomaly to Ivan’s preconceived idea of how the world worked, and his hunger to learn more could never be sated.

Summary
The world ended at 10am on a Wednesday.
Or— at least Hyuna’s did.
They say you never appreciate what you have until it’s gone. Hyuna certainly knows all about that, knows what it’s like to wake up and have your world ripped away from you, to stare at a marked stone with the one name you never expected to see written there.
If anybody knew loss, it was Hyuna.

”Are you here to kill me, Hyuna?” The reverence that he speaks her name with makes her flinch, the one weapon to her steel fortitude.
Yes, she should say, should drive that knife into the empty space his heart should be, wonder if his blood will leak as black as his soul.
(It won’t. She knows it won’t. Has seen the sight of it so long ago, when her world crumbled around her and she lost the two most important people in her life.
One is still here, but Hyuna has learned her lesson. Her heart is closed off now, protected from the vice grip of the man she once loved, the one she may still love despite her insistence otherwise.)

Just minutes before their inevitable round, Hyuna pays her opponent a visit. For what, she doesn’t really know. She only knows what comes next, something Luka, for once, does not.

He glanced to his side, the merman was still watching him, head tipped slightly to the left. Till scowled, “would you stop that, it’s rude.”
The merman frowned, “stop what?”
Till gestured as much as he could with his bound hands, “stop staring! It’s creepy.”
”I thought you said it was rude.”
Till glared. Great, he was trapped in a room with an annoying bastard of a merman.
OR
When Hyuna’s exploits lead to Till having to pay the price, he not only indirectly finds out more information about the underground fights, but also has to come face to face with a legend he previously passed off as drunken ramblings.

She turned, catching sight of Mizi’s wonderfully flushed face and her heated look shot from beneath thick lashes. “I missed you,” Mizi said again, hands squeezing her shoulders meaningfully.
Hyuna inhaled sharply. Mizi kissed her neck once more, a hint of teeth and tongue as she sucked a mark underneath her ear. She exhaled, breath coming out shaky.
Mizi’s back hit the mattress, and Hyuna dived down to swallow the sound of her startled gasp.

“You know I adore you.” A nod.
“And that I really would love to stay up with you and do whatever you please.” A slightly more flushed and slightly more vigorous nod. He’s like a puppy, eager and holding onto her every word. She pauses here, weighing her words, and Luka realizes what she’s about to say before she says it–
“But I am way, way too tired for that tonight.”
His face falls. A pout forms on his face quick as lightning, and he pulls his hips away dramatically. She laughs.

Summary
They are so small, weaker and even more fragile than he is, like the light of tiny flickering candles waiting to be snuffed out by the faintest breeze. They don't do much besides eat and cry, demanding her undivided attention at all times of the day, and yet Hyuna loves them more than anything.
More than herself, more than her freedom, and certainly more than him.
Luka cannot understand why.
He glares, but the baby doesn't seem to understand his ire, simply staring up at him with eyes like his, wide and curious. The baby giggles, much to his confusion, smiling up at him despite the obvious dislike he is trying to convey to the little thing, and something odd stirs in his chest, warm like he'd swallowed a miniature sun.
His expression softens a little.
Perhaps he can understand, if only a little, why Hyuna seems to like them so much.
After escaping with Hyuna and unwillingly joining the rebellion, Luka learns to be human.
