Summary
Fifth year ended shortly after "The Incident", with James saving Snape from stumbling into Remus in the Shrieking Shack. An incident that nearly led to disaster. Sirius still regards the whole thing as a mere prank gone wrong. James, however, has been left to ponder what type of person she's been, and who she really is and wants to be.
This is a series of vignettes, starting in the beginning of 6th year and into 7th.

Summary
The fifth card showed a woman crowned in light not her own. Her left eye burned with the red geometry of the Jewel- the Serpent’s Eye- its radiance held in uneasy balance. She stood between the Unicorn’s arc and the Serpent’s coil, claimed by both, belonging to neither. Her gaze was steady, but the distance in it spoke of knowledge taken, not given. This was Coral of Amber, axis of two powers, wife to one king and kin to two others, who carries the weight of inherited shadows- and who has begun, at last, to choose her own shape within them.

Summary
As I turned the fourth card it revealed a woman standing alone, her dark hair bound back. Her black armor was plain and without ornamentation, her expression calm. There was no softness in her, only the quiet assurance of someone who has already weighed the cost of every possible choice. The gaze of her blue eyes was steady and unflinching. This was Deirdre of Amber, who knows the future must be endured, and who walks toward it without illusion.

Five Princesses In Amber by WinterRavensDaughter
Fandom Chronicles of Amber - Roger Zelazny
24 Feb 2026
Summary
A conversation in an online thread left me with a monumental idea- a revisit to the Amber Chronicles from the viewpoint of the five almost completely overlooked-except-for-specific-moments daughters of Oberon.
It would be a ridiculously large task for even a dedicated fanfiction writer. I can't imagine revisiting Zelazny's 1200+ pages and doing them justice.
But... maybe... a short story for each? A specific event or moment in time from their viewpoints- that felt doable. In the end, I am only providing an additional moment for each of them. Even then, I revisit moments in canon twice- just from their point of view. Still, I hope at least some of you will enjoy reading these as much as I did writing them.

Bookmarker's Notes
This is the most well-written and fascinating exploration of a Jewish Hermione I've read. The blending of her faith- and more esoteric aspects like Kabballah- with magical traditions more inline with canon is amazing. I also love seeing spells, rituals, and magical traditions in other languages instead of assuming everyone just butchers Latinate nonsense. I'm very glad I decided to start reading your story :)
