It’s been six days, fourteen hours, and an indeterminate amount of minutes and seconds since Hizashi last slept for longer than a couple of hours at a time.

Hizashi has lost so much these last couple of weeks.
But it's nothing compared to what his friends have lost - what Shouta has lost. He can't complain. He needs to shut up and get on with it. Get on with caring for his husband. But how long can he really go on, with grief and guilt weighing him down?
He's fine. Really.

But there comes a point when rules don't matter. When all the carefully crafted patterns stop being important. When the world narrows down to the silvery glow of a blade in the light of a back-alley lantern and the soft splatter of blood hitting the ground.
The scream tears itself from his throat before his friend’s body hits the ground.
