A signal GAIA doesn't recognize appears on the mountain range on the far end of Tenakth territory. A Zero Dawn facility has randomly come online but despite having most of her faculties returned to her GAIA can't communicate with it. Aloy volunteers to go check it out and see what it is and bring it into line with GAIA. In the Zero Dawn facility she meets a dead man who isn't as dead as she thought.

Shin wasn’t thrilled about the plan. That being that Osiris was going to take Crow on as a secret thing. One; he’d become quite protective of Crow in the past few weeks, keeping him safe from other Guardians and also teaching him how to be a proper Hunter. Two; Osiris was too agreeable, too generous with how he talked. But this was what Wolf said they were doing and despite thinking otherwise Shin didn't argue with Wolf, so they were doing it.
