    Mr. Harrington pulled out a stack of papers, and passed them out to everyone. Peter took his without looking at it, and passed the stack onto Ned.

    Whispers broke out, after everyone had a paper, and had had a couple seconds to glance over it. Peter didn’t even bother reading it. His brain felt like mush, and besides, Mr. Harrington would go over everything anyways.

    “I assume you all have already read it by now, but I’ll say it anyways. In a few days, as a reward for how well you all did at Nationals, we have been given the once-in-a-lifetime opportunity to go on a field trip to Stark Tower!”

    The rest of the team cheered, as Peter felt his soul transcend out of his body.

    Well shit.

    “He’s got the flu,” Peter said slowly, still turning the puzzle over in his head. “Didn’t you get your dad’s text?”
    “I didn’t look.” She shifted. “Why’d he send you?”
    The accusation in the question stung. He’d spent over a decade as the object of Morgan’s blind affection. Losing it now, without any warning and no explanation, made his whole perspective shift off-kilter.

    Or, Morgan's angry with Peter, Peter's oblivious, and Tony's self-sacrificial streak goes a little too far.

    "You’re becoming your father.” Nat said grimly. "Just give him time, spider. Give yourself time."

     

    Peter was silent. Peter didn’t know if there would be enough time in his life to give.

    It felt like Ben all over again.

    Except this time a stabbing pain hit him constantly, knowing he was this close to his father, where he hadn’t ever been after Ben’s death. Yet he couldn’t do a single thing.

    A cup clattered onto a counter downstairs.

    He could do something.

    As Peter came around the corner to the open living and dining room, the Rogues stood there.

    And the anger bubbled over.

    TLDR: The Rogues return to live at the tower after the Civil War. Since the events of Homecoming, Peter and Tony had become extremely close, eventually pulling in Pepper and Nat, who had fixed things with Tony.

    When the Rogues practically destroy Tony again by being at the tower while Peter watches, Peter has one man to blame.

    Steve Rogers.

    And he can be as cold and sharp as his father when he wants.
