    Summary

Simon didn’t expect his savior to be exactly his type.

What a welcome sight. Even if this stupidly handsome man ends up being evil, or working for the C.O.I, at least he’d die looking at something good.

    or

Grace and Rocky find Simon's ship floating in deep space on their way to Erid.

    Summary

I lived with this hunger long before the Hail Mary. This is nothing new. I’m fine.

Right up until Rocky asks another question.

“When last time you touch other human person skin, question?”

Oh. Oh no. “When I… a few days after I first woke up here.”

Rocky starts to relax for a split second, but then tightens when something occurs to him.

“Grace crewmates dead when you wake up. You said this, statement. You not even know your own name, remember nothing, see dead bodies, confirm?”

I nod, because if I open my mouth I will gag.

“When last time Grace touch ALIVE human person, question.”

I swallow thickly. I don’t answer aloud because I know Rocky can hear the hitch in my breath. My stomach churns with fresh bile. He senses my vital signs tick over into stress patterns and goes very, very still again.

    “Grace. When last time, question.”

I clench my jaw so hard my temples ache, and beg him with my eyes to just stop.

“Grace. Please say not when… when Evil Stratt humans put you to sleep.”

    I can taste grass.

    Summary

Uriel clears her throat, clandestinely refilling her glass.

"I never thought I'd see the day," she says. "Not that it's not sweet and all, but..."

"But what?" Aziraphale prompts, not liking the tilt of her frown.

Uriel flicks ash on the pavement. "I don't know what you see in him. Nice for what he is, yes, absolutely. You've got me there. He didn't so much Fall as trip and make an arse of himself, and part of him's been trying to make up for it ever since. You, though, you've got a lot to answer for. Is that what it is? He keeps you respectable?"

Aziraphale experiences a flash of genuine anger, but quells it as swiftly as he can.

Crowley wrapped around him. Crowley's startled laughter at the brush of Aziraphale's fingers behind his knee. Crowley's voice, low and drowsy, asking if Aziraphale thinks everything is going to be all right. Telling him yes, touching his hair. Holding him.

"He reminds me," Aziraphale tells her calmly, "of what matters."

    Summary

The first story in this series, “Crown of Thorns [The Walls, the Wainscot, and the Mouse] ’Verse” can be read as a stand-alone, as can “Birdwatcher” and “Two Last Things.” All of the stories thereafter pick up where the first one leaves off and form a broader overarching storyline.
