Angel had never thought he'd hear that name again, let alone that voice. How long had it been? Eight years? Seven? His heart hammered in his chest as he turned to see the man, his alpha standing there like nothing had changed, like Angel's heart hadn't broken a thousand times over wondering where'd he gone and like he hadn't suffered day and night waiting for his return.
It had been seven years since Angel had seen Alastor. Seven long painful years since they had shared their goodbyes and it was starting to feel like it would be another long, lonely year without him, but leave it to Hell to find a way a new way to punish him just as he had managed to push it all down. But seeing Alastor now, shaking the hand of Charlie, Angel thought he could forgive it all just to be wrapped up in his scent again.
Perhaps this wasn’t punishment if it meant he didn’t have to go back to the constant pain of a missing mate, or to Valentino and the terrifying realization that he was stuck with the one who owned his soul and not his heart.
