The idea came to her after a couple of glasses of wine, as all good ideas did. One of her up and coming author friends had talked about the premise of her new novel. She’d adorned it in a variety of flowery language, but it was just smut, centred on some category of BDSM. If Buddy was going to act like a dog, well, then maybe the best course of action was for Ellen to treat him like one.
Set during Animal Man (1988) Issue #27. Ellen finds a way to manage Buddy’s recent behaviour.

When Big Game caught her looking at him, the boy nearly spat out his drink. Maeve smirked.
”You want another drink?”

His tone isn’t sexy and it’s clear he’s struggling to get the words out. A part of him hopes that the desperation is helping.
The man raises an eyebrow, an expression of faint curiosity on his face. Big Game suspects he’s intentionally drawing out his silence before, finally, finally, he gives an answer.
”Hmm, well,” he places a finger underneath his chin, “may as well take a stab at it, since you’ve put it on the table.”
Big Game takes desperate measures to ensure Butcher gives him the blackmail. Butcher, well, he’s not one to turn down the chance to humiliate a supe.
