When Destiny dies, he leaves his mansion to both his nephew Morpheus and his gardener's son Hob. Even though they grew up together, they could not be more different from each other: Morpheus is a university professor, deeply introverted, stuck-up, almost celibate, and impossibly misanthropic. Hob is a waiter, an extroverted and loud hedonist who loves life and having fun. They decide to live in the mansion together, but they do not know what they got themselves into. They both plan to get rid of the other, and they always get involved in various shenanigans which make them learn things about themselves they never knew.

Summary
In 1689, Dream of the Endless asks Hob Gadling if he still wishes to live. Hob, who had lost his wife, newborn baby, and son way too early, is convinced that the Stranger is responsible for his loss, having wished to punish Hob for his arrogance and greed and teach him a lesson. So he formulates a plan to take revenge: he would win the Stranger's heart, make him fall in love with him, and then break his heart and leave him an empty husk. Everything changes when he realizes that not only he has fallen for the Stranger, but that the Stranger is in fact innocent of what Hob accused him.
The Dreamling telenovela nobody asked.

Shane had barely made it up five steps. He paused for a second, wondering if he had hit the metal railing somehow, leaving behind a knock-like reverberation echoing in the stairwell. He shook his head slightly, as if shaking out the thought that it could be anything else. He continued up the steps more slowly.
Then there was a second knock, and a buzz in his sweatshirt pocket.
There was no mistaking either of those sounds. He practically snapped his wrist yanking his phone out of his pocket.
LILY: the car is not here, and is cold. can i keep waiting inside?

Ilya hums, playing the card he's been considering for this entire conversation. “We could make more interesting, yes? A bet.”
“A bet,” Shane repeats, eyes flashing. “Like what?”
The reporter cuts in. “What about wearing the other player’s jersey?”
They both turn to her, and Shane says, “Like, the loser wears the winner’s jersey?”
“Maybe at the next game in a couple of months?”
“Is a good idea,” Ilya muses, nudging Shane’s elbow. “You will look better in my jersey than in Montreal jersey.”
Shane makes a low noise, his eyes holding a bit of a spark when he looks back to Ilya. It’s what Ilya was hoping for—the tiniest crack in the mask. He can see a hint of exasperated affection around the corners of Shane’s eyes, a little bit of fire burning just beneath the surface. It sends a thrill down Ilya’s spine, and he wonders if Shane will be snarky when Ilya gets him naked tonight.
“That’s not happening,” Shane replies, shaking his head. “Because you’re not winning.”
