Summary
This is a sequel to the episode "Frame of Mind."
Following his failed undercover mission on Tilonus IV, Commander Riker returns to the Enterprise. There, he struggles with the psychological aftermath of his captivity and the manipulation of his mind, which makes him question reality. With the support of his friends, and especially Deanna's, he tries to find his place on the ship and realign his goals while grappling with the invisible scars of his experiences.
Will he succeed, or will there be an unexpected turn of events?

It is always advisable to have read the first part, but of course I try to integrate the Happenings.
Five years have passed since Gary's death in this story, and Robbie still has his problems with it. Will he ever get over the loss of his more than good friend and finally be able to fully enjoy life, which has been cracked a little in the last few years and thus accompanied everywhere like an eternal shadow?

This little story is about a promise that Gary and Robbie make to each other after their big conversation, which isn't really intended for the public. A promise that had to be fulfilled at some point and thus will have far-reaching consequences.
Actually, this fanfiction was planned as a OneShot, but then I thought that I would make at least a two-piece out of it.
Inspired by the following songs by Robbie: The Promise, Into The Silence, Reality Killed The Video Star & Different. Likewise, through an interview in which Robbie couldn't and wasn't allowed to say anything about the true Story of Different.

Between the shadows, stone, and metal, the shape of a human’s hand was visible between the rubble.
His hand was coated in the gray of the dust, same as the sleeve that stretched along his left arm and up across much of his chest, including the once-shiny combadge on the left. Similarly, the dust settled upon the slack bearded face of Commander William T. Riker, obscuring the liveliness of his rosy cheeks.
Or: An away team mission goes wrong, leaving an injured Riker and malfunctioning Data stuck until they can be rescued. Time is running out, and they both have fears to face.
