Flying back to Cherry Street, weaving reckless in the dark, it comes down to this: Dick is the only one of his siblings that Jason has any real claim on. Dick is the only one of that whole mess of victims to Batman's cult of self-immolation who belongs to Jason. Even more than that - Dick is the only person in the world who he shares a parent with, who knows what it meant to be the Robin to Batman of nearly ten years ago.
It's just not the same anymore.
So if Dick fucking kicks it, Jason's the only one left. Jason becomes an only child. Jason becomes the last of his kind. Jason becomes the sole keeper of that memory, of a brotherhood shared under a man who no longer exists. There is no way to replace Dick, because the world that they lived in together is gone, and can never give Jason a surrogate.
The Red Hood pulls the thread on a mystery big enough to bridge the distance between two cities, two brothers: The plot they unravel is far deeper and darker than a garden-variety drug trafficking scheme. A story about siblingship, hauntings, and rivers.

It’s been five years since Chuuya and Dazai published their novel, Soukoku, four since they stopped being writing partners, and two since Chuuya realized he’s in love with said ex-writing partner. Five months since they were contacted about making a Soukoku movie, four since they met in person for the first time after the split, and two since he inadvertently ruined Dazai’s birthday and made an even bigger ass of himself than normal.
But now Chuuya is determined to make Dazai his and accepts help from an unlikely ally.
“Boy troubles, is it?” Fitzgerald asks.
“Chuuya’s trying to get his long lost love to notice him,” Albatross says, grinning. Chuuya kicks him under the table.
“Ah. I understand how hard it can be, dealing with matters of the heart,” Fitzgerald says, sounding sympathetic. “Before Zelda and I got married, I fear I made quite a fool of myself. I learned that sometimes, all you need is the right setting.”
“The right setting?” Chuuya ventures.
“A party.” Fitzgerald smiles at him over his glass.

Summary
Dazai orders two cabs - one for Atsushi, and one for him and Ranpo; Atsushi doesn’t have it in him to either insist Dazai doesn’t pay for him, or be surprised that Dazai is actually paying for him. The car Dazai ordered for himself arrives first, so Atsushi bids them both a tired farewell; the last he sees of them, Dazai is packing up a half-lucid Ranpo into the cab.
Before the door shuts, Atsushi catches a glimpse of Ranpo lying his head down into Dazai’s lap. He’s too tired to think too much of it, though.or: five times Atsushi doesn't connect the dots about Ranpo and Dazai, and the time it gets spelled out to him.

Fyodor (or the motherfucking rat bastard as Chuuya calls him behind Dazai’s back) being a preppy economics student with greasy hair and a creepy smile, a weird group of friends who all worship the fucking ground he walks on, and not a single genuine bone in his stupidly tall body.
And Dazai’s boyfriend of three years, somehow.
Safe to say, Chuuya doesn’t really like Fyodor very much.
Now - does Chuuya, in part, hate Fyodor because he’s been in love with Dazai for God knows how long? Kind of - but it’s still a relatively small part of the whole equation.

In learning how to feel happiness, Dazai gets the chance to finally live the childhood he never got to have. Maybe there is no greater meaning to life, but that’s something he has to figure out for himself. This is a story of healing, learning to love, and acceptance, in every sense of the words.
Inspired by all the “de-aging” fics out there that use time travel to deal with the trauma these kids went through (which I absolutely adore!) Time moves forward, and they can’t change the past, but it’s never too late to start to heal.
