Summary
It’s 1983. Paul McCartney, a schoolteacher based in London, is notified that he’s inherited a house in Liverpool — the house in which his friend and bandmate, John Lennon, lived before his untimely death at 21. Paul has never dealt with it. He goes back to Liverpool to lay some ghosts.

Summary
Nearly three decades after the breakup of The Beatles, John and Paul have long since worked through their conflicts of the seventies. After Linda’s death, Paul is a wreck and John moves in with him to help. The fact that he’s been in love with him for just about his entire life isn’t important – Paul is grieving a tremendous loss, and John is only there to be the friend that he desperately needs.
Things have a way of getting complicated, though.

George looks down, takes in the astonishing image of Paul kneeling at his feet, and thinks incredulously that John's so much inside him after all this time that Paul could never get him out again, however hard he tried. Even now that John himself is long gone.

That wasn’t fair, was it? One lad making you feel that way, deal with all of those clinging, gnawing emotions burning away at you was bad enough, but now it was two?
George has been horribly aware of how he feels about John and Paul since practically the day they met and has tried rather unsuccessfully over the years to ignore it. The other two take a while longer to catch up.

John reached over, covering his friend’s hand with his own. “You know, Macca, it’s only been what, a year and a little? Maybe it’s okay that you ain’t over her passin’. Pretty sure it’s gonna take longer than that for me.” He moved his hand away. “And you’re wrong. You’re a good friend.” He tamped out his ciggie and looked away. “You’re me best mate, and I thank ya.” And then more softly, “You might be everything, now.”

Summary
At the words, George glances up, wide eyed and open mouthed, and Brian thinks if Paul’s got the soft look of a deer, George has the knock-kneed one of a foal. All elbows and eyelashes – some fresh born thing still wet behind the ears and uncertain how its limbs work. It had surprised him when they’d met – so taken perhaps by the joint-front of John’s wit and confidence and Paul’s charm and maturity – to find this scrappy little thing behind them, but it’d been impossible to deny his skill with the guitar, just as it’d been impossible to deny John and Paul’s shared and individual affection for him (something he could certainly not say about poor Pete).

Summary
In this story, Stuart Sutcliffe didn't die in 1962 and instead is a working artist living in London with Astrid, occasionally doing freelance work for his old friends the Beatles. Stuart and Astrid have an open marriage and each embark on passionate queer relationships in 1968, which bring them both joy but challenge their stability as a couple. Meanwhile, Stuart is worried about John and his seeming mental breakdown, and has very mixed feelings about John's way of dealing with this. This draws him closer to his old enemy Paul, who he has developed a better relationship with over the years, but who he still has trouble understanding. Events contrive to draw Stuart deeper into the vortex of chaos caused by John and Paul's prolonged, painful breakup, while he simultaneously struggles to keep a handle on his increasingly complex personal life.
