Pobmek had knelt down carefully in front of him while Solar lowered himself beside the little boy as well, and almost instinctively, Rain had reached for both of them — one tiny hand slipped into Pobmek’s, and the other settled into Solar’s.
“Rain,” Pobmek had started carefully, his voice softer than usual, “do you want to come live with Mek and Sol at our home ?”
Solar smiled gently at him as Rain blinked up at them immediately.
“Home ?” He echoed softly before his eyes widened slightly, “like adopting Rain ?”

"The problem wasn’t that Tim was roaring down the street towards Gotham university, which had enough aliens surrounding it to safely bet that it’d be the next intergalactic arson victim.
It wasn’t even that there were still dozens of students and faculty trapped inside. He could’ve handled that. It was bad, but no worse than any of the other times he’d had to evacuate a doomed building.
But all of those other times, his boyfriend hadn’t been in the crossfire."
