"Mike starts to become aware that in this van, driving on some desert highway, there's something being unearthed. A monster, an ugly shape of pure misery and sorrow is digging up from the ground and breaking the surface, coming up for air after it had long been buried. It's claws grasp at the sand and pull itself up, wincing from the sun after being hidden for so long. This monster takes in it's new surroundings on the surface with the knowledge that it can never be buried again. The defenses were weak, and the earth crumbled with ease."
A season 5 rewrite, where Hawkins crumbles around them, and love tries to win out in the end.
