"What are you, a cabin boy or something?”
Usopp says nothing. He wants to say something—anything—but his tongue is thick, his chest hollow. The words lodge like pebbles in his throat, scratching the roof of his mouth until he tastes blood. It's only when he tastes it that Usopp realises he's been biting the inside of his cheek hard enough to bleed.
"I'm not—" he tries. He's not a cabin boy, he wants to say. The words wont leave his tongue.
The man shrugs. “Doesn't really matter what you are. As long as Straw Hat comes for you, you’re just a means to an end.”
AKA: Usopp is taken to lure his captain into a trap. It takes Luffy a little too long to get there, and doubt sneaks in before he does.
