    Bookmarker's Notes

nice good Gen general legend of Zelda link fic with spotlight on wild with twilight's pov, looking for that one missing hero in modern college cafe coffee shop au

also some lowkey subtle spotlight like twi/time fatherly relation and twi/wild protectiveness.

short bamf wild or twilight moment. indirect angst hurt/comfort for wild link

I guess my favorite scene is when wild link unknowingly picked up the master sword and unaware what it meant lol. also the scene in ch 34 where wild thought heroes can get grounded was nice

wish there's more of these kinds of Gen fics

    ch 15 - reveal/confirmation

    ---------

some psychology like a person's reaction to bad things in life/when life doesn't go their way (wild reacted positively to his problems and worked hard to overcome, Claude succumbed and chose the bad path and made wrong decisions).... and also, a person permanently being changed after their experiences

When Iila lost her memories, she was sent into a spiral of depression. She would have screaming fits and nightmares that wouldn't end. There were moments where she'd hold something like a childhood toy and just stare at it like it held all the answers to the universe, getting angrier by the second when nothing familiar came to her. It took the efforts of both Twilight and Bo to finally convince her to go therapy. Iila was much better now, though she was not the same person Twilight knew from childhood. She was quieter, had less energy, and she took little pleasure in the things she once enjoyed. Twilight hated there was nothing he could do for her but wait.

    ××××××××××××

Twilight drank. Water dribbled down his bloody chin, wetting his collar. He didn't stop till the bottle was a third empty. "Thank... you," he said once he was done.

Charles grunted and placed the bottle back down. "You don't need to be polite. I know exactly what you must think of me."

"And what... do I... think... of you?"

"Don't patronize me," Charles hissed at him. "What a failure. What an idiot. The man couldn't become a Hero so he becomes the villain, how original."

    "I wasn't... thinking... that."

"Please. It's not like I wanted this to fucking happen. I had plans, you know. But once I came home with a burnt hand and a police warrant on my head, I had no where else to go. The Yiga were the only ones who understood what happened to me, what bullshit it is that I, a grown adult, was turned down but you allowed a fourteen year old kid to join."

"Are you kidding me?" Wild said. "You got rejected, so you decide your next step was to join the mafia?"

"You shut the hell up before I make you shut up."

    "You killed that cab driver!"

Charles flinched. He took a step back, and he stared down at the floor, unable to deny it.

"Did you even call an ambulance before you hauled us away?" Wild demanded.

"You stand there, moaning and whining about how unfair the Heroes were to you-"

    "Shut up."

"-but let's face it, if this is how you react when life doesn't go your way-"

    "Shut. Up."

"-it's no damn wonder the sword deemed you unworthy!"

    "SHUT UP!"

Charles slammed his heavily scarred fist across Wild's face, knocking him and the chair to the floor.

"Stop!" Twilight protested. He jerked forward, and his body was quick to remind he still had several broken bones. He gasped and curled in on himself, trembling.

On the floor, Wild spat out blood. He groaned. "Beating up a teenager. Great."

"If you don't stop talking I swear I'll-"

[after finishing reading, move back to pinktealover77 pseud, bc i moved this bookmark to bookmarkchan so ill see it when im browsing for more fics]

    read until chapter 16 only

    I really love the plot

there's 20 chapters total so far

While the girls in their class rushed to Ochako's side to see if she was alright, Shoto poured more tea for himself. His painstaking notes looked like the scrawlings of a madman. Still, he'd recorded every word, every possible theory produced by his classmates.

They were all wrong, of course. Todoroki Shoto knew the truth. All arrows pointed to one and only one theory: Midoriya Izuku was the forbidden love child of All Might, and the tiny child in his care was most likely his little sister. The poor thing had probably superimposed a father figure identity onto her big brother, which was natural since he had stepped in to perform duties in her life that would normally be relegated to a guiding paternal hand.

Good on you, Midoriya Izuku, thought Shoto while he sipped tea and poured over his notes. Good on you.

    ------------------

Itsuka and Izuku's expressions both soured with awkwardness. Was Nana talking about hero work, date night, or just sex? Maybe it was all three

    All three

This right here is why Todoroki is my favourite.

    Summary

After the events of Tears of the Kingdom, Link and Zelda fell into a rhythm with each other as they reacquainted Zelda with the new-new Hyrule and offered the chance for many to welcome the queen home. No one was surprised when Hyrule’s most powerful couple announced they were expecting a little one.

Armed with a strict list of foods and approved activities from Impa, Zelda and Link continued their travels when Zelda’s time powers began acting up. Purah was sure it had something to do with the pregnancy, but the baffling results left Zelda bouncing around her timeline. As her due date approached, the jumps became more erratic and nearly so commonplace that Link hardly blinked when she looked up, confused from the breakfast table, and he calmly asked where she was from. Most times, she barely had enough seconds to ponder and say, “A week ago, I think,” before she was snatched back through time.

This time, however, as Link and Zelda prepare for the arrival of their little one, the queen is sent back to pre-calamity Hyrule, propelling a young princess one hundred and eleven years into the future and into the arms of a familiar knight.

She nodded simply. “That makes sense.” This was a tender moment. She couldn’t ruin it. “Sometimes it’s easier that way for me, too. To be fully honest,” she clarified. “To say what I feel without filtering my true thoughts or feelings.”

He hesitantly nodded. “I feel that already. With you… somehow.” His eyes never left her. “You did say we are friends.” Link’s tone was slightly defensive.

“I did. We are.” She sighed. “I didn’t make it very easy on you, did I?”

Link shrugged. “I can't see that you have it very easy yourself so–” He paled, and shook his head, eyes squeezed shut like he did when he mentally cursed himself. “I shouldn’t speak so plainly. I apologize– "

“I have told you many times to speak your mind,” Zelda said gently. When Link stayed quiet, she nodded at the pot between them. “You should eat some more. You’ll need your strength. She’ll be back soon.”

    --

“I’m sorry. I– I can’t tell you anymore,” Zelda said carefully, stopping short when Link shook his head.

“No,” he breathed. “Excuse me, I- “ He shook his head. Then he stood, Zelda’s hands falling from him. He turned from her. She watched the Master Sword, strapped across his rigid back as he exhaled. “I don’t want to know anymore.”

He let the words fall to the ground, stepping over them as he moved toward the jungle and into the darkness.

    -

The delicate feeling of her lips was so achingly close to what he desperately missed but different enough, it didn’t fully satisfy what he truly desired. Instead, he remembered how it was before, for them. How he never had any hope their relationship would change, how he despaired over a friendship lost before it even had the chance to be gained.

He saw now that her treatment of him had only been a shield. How jealousy and fear had rotted her feelings before they’d even had a chance. She’d just been a desperate, insecure girl who believed she was alone, with no one to turn to for help or true understanding.

Link’s hands found her shoulders, and he gently pushed her away. When her eyes blinked open, he looked at her softly and murmured, “We shouldn’t do that.”

    --

“Look, Princess,” he said gently. “I can’t give you all the answers, but what I can tell you from my own experience is that you can’t wait for others to believe in you. It can’t be from a friend, from Impa, or even from,” he looked down at himself. “Some guy you just met.” He looked into her emerald greens and smiled. “It’s gotta come from you. You have to believe in yourself because you are capable of everything that’s set out before you and then some.”

When Zelda was silent, he added, “If I had waited for all the other knights to believe I was actually the hero, I never would have pulled the sword. I always was…” He felt his cheeks heat. “Smaller than everyone else.”

    ----

Link put a hand on Zelda’s shoulder and squeezed. “All I’m saying is, you can do this. I know you can, Zelda. You don’t need everyone in Hyrule to believe you can do it; you just have to believe you can, and you will.”

“That’s nice,” Zelda smiled and then shrugged away Link’s touch. “However, I do not believe in myself, and I do not know how to start to begin when everyone looks at me with such fear. And while your sentiment is well-intended, not a single person in Castle Town believes I can do it, including my father. Even Impa… her belief rests more with Hylia than me. It would mean so much if just one person had no doubt that I could do it. Maybe then I could start to see it myself.”

Link nudged her shoulder with his. “Then know that I do.”

Zelda smiled at him. “I appreciate your support, and it has been unexpectedly lovely to become acquainted, even under such circumstances.” She took a deep breath. “I will try to build my confidence, as you say. Knowing that future Link has full faith in me.”

“No, Zelda,” Link shook his head. “Your Link. Right now. He believes in you.”

    Zelda stilled. “Are you sure?”

    He nodded.

    “How could you possibly know?”

Link smiled at her accusatory tone. “Because I always did.”

“Is this okay?” she asked quietly. “I should… apologize for my actions before. That was presumptive… and unwise.”

“You’re allowed to be a little presumptive and unwise at your age,” Link teased, before wrapping his arm around her shoulders and rubbing his thumb in reassuring strokes. “You’re going to be just fine,” he promised.

    -----

Link paused. “You’re different,” he said quietly.

“I am,” Zelda affirmed. “I’ve had many years to grow up and discover my own truths about the world. I’m not the shy, unsure girl I was.”
