Summary
It's New Year's Eve, 1988. Daniel's been a vampire for over three years and the others have left the Night Island. Armand has become distant and cold, and Daniel is not about to ring in the new year without at least trying to fix things between them, no matter how frustrating that may prove to be.
Armand looked up from his computer with mild curiosity. He said nothing. He’d cut his auburn hair short, which he did often these days, and he wore a gray hooded sweatshirt that was too big for him. One of Daniel’s. That was surprising, but maybe he’d merely grabbed something at random. Rings decorated nearly every one of his pale fingers, even his thumbs.
“It’s New Year’s Eve,” Daniel said.
Armand blinked. He still said nothing. Just stared at him with those big, amber eyes of his.
“Come on, we’re going out.”
“No,” Armand said, firmly. “Please close the door.”

Summary
Daniel knows, without detail, what happened to Armand when he was human. He knows, with probably too much detail to publish, the kind of sex Armand has now.
He just doesn't know if that’s because of genuine want or ingrained compulsion.
So, after Louis leaves, after the blood has been drained from Daniel’s body, only to be filled back up again, after Daniel has drained the meal Armand summoned to the penthouse dining room, and after Armand, with no warning or hesitance, grabs Daniel and kisses his blood slick mouth with a force that would hurt like hell if he were still human, Daniel comes to a decision.
If this is going to happen, he is going to treat Armand gently.
It does not end well.

Summary
Armand bites Daniel in the penthouse with the intention of killing him. Daniel has a lot of thoughts and opinions about it. Daniel makes it about sex. Armand makes it about religion. They both make it weird.
Armand snarls at him like an animal. Daniel laughs at him and bleeds on the floor about it.
“What makes you speak to me so?” Armand demands. “Aren't you frightened now? Won't you beg me for your life?”
He has such little fangs. They're cute. Daniel's disappointed he’ll never find out if vampire fangs correspond to dick size. For all he knows it's an inverse situation. Maybe Armand's packing serious heat. Could be totally unrelated. Unsolved Mysteries: vampire cock edition.
Is it strange that Daniel would still fuck Armand, even now? Probably not. Everyone wants to fuck Armand, that's part of the problem.
“Not this time,” Daniel says.
