“Percy!” She cried desperately. “Take my hand! I swear to god if you fall, Seaweed brain, I’ll kill you!”
She flung her hand out for him to grasp. Too far. There was still a good foot between them, even with almost half her body leaning towards him.
His gaze found her outstretched arm, then drifted back up to meet her eyes. The look in his eyes- “No, no don’t you dare do anything stupid!” She growled at him, her voice cracking in desperation.
Then Nico was beside her, pulling her back with newfound strength. Percy’s head turned slowly- gods he must have had a concussion- towards the son of Hades.
“The other side, Nico!” he shouted. “Lead them there!”

“I don’t want to intrude.”
“You’re not intruding at all.” MJ unlocks her door and steps inside, gesturing with her head for him to follow. “Besides, I’m just repaying you for the flowers.”
“You don’t have to,” Peter insists. “I was just being nice.”
“Then I’m being nice too. Come on. I have too much food and only myself for company.”
She holds up the plastic bag in her hand, where Peter can see two boxes of takeout inside.
“Okay,” Peter agrees, his hunger winning against his common sense. “Thank you for having me.”
Peter has done a good job avoiding Ned and MJ for the past four years. Until they both moved in across the hall and began inviting him for meals and giving him leftovers (suspiciously looking freshly cooked). He really shouldn’t get involved in their lives anymore, but Peter Parker is broke, hungry, and can’t resist the temptation of delicious food and the chance to talk to his friends again.
Or: Healing and loving through awkward leftovers, impromptu lunch hangouts, and maybe admitting Peter’s not quite satisfied with his life as he thought he was.

Summary
In the wake of Peter Parker erasing himself from the memories of his friends and family, not to mention the entire universe, he's doing as well as can be expected. Three years later, he's attending ESU, trying to work three jobs alongside getting two degrees, and still going out as Spider-Man. He's fine, really. Everything is just fine. That is until a run-in with the law and a DNA test shatter the carefully constructed facade that Peter had made his life.

“Your blood matches a sample the FBI has on file from a kidnapping case.” Agent Carisi opens the thicker file. “A four-year-old boy taken while on vacation with his father about twenty years ago.”
Peter’s breathing speeds up.
“Authorities took fingerprint and DNA samples from the boy’s room, and at the father’s behest, we continue to test them against any that are placed within any system we have access to.”
A piece of paper with lab results lays atop the file. It gets picked up and placed on the table.

Summary
It hurts, but it’s okay. If Henderson needs someone to blame, he can be that person. He’s good at that, has done it before, knows how. Hell, he’ll be whatever his kid needs him to be, so long as his kid still needs him. So long as Henderson stays.
